The "Unmark as Gift" option is NOT working any longer and is causing problems when I print my orders. Very important information is in my "Personalized Note" that prints on just the Packing Slips. Either make the "Unmark as Gift" option work again, or let there be an option for the "Personalized Note" to be able to be printed on every "Packing Slip". 99% of the time, customers mark the item as a gift, BUT ARE GOING TO BE SHIPPED TO THEMSELVES! The "Personalized Note" NEEDS to be put in every package. I do not want to waste time and money on printing out an entire separate note and inserting it in the package. I want it on the "Packing Slip" or "Order Receipt" NO MATTER WHAT. HELP! Please help. Please.

Many buyers mark as a gift and buy for themselves. Why do you want to unmark it?

@NanaLetha   The wording in the bubble says a note can be included.  The bubble informatio  I think is wrong.  It is still supposed to be if you mark as gift that you get a receipt without pricing.  A seller had to enable the rest for the note and gift wrapping.  I guess the programmer didn't realize the difference when they wrote the note.

That depends on whether they want it marked as a gift hoping to avoid potential customs/import duties? I have already had that happen.

When I am filling out my French customs forms online (CN23), I will mark the transaction as 'sale of merchandise' as that is exactly what it is.

I am not sure why it matters if the buyer is sending the "gift" to themselves. You are not sending a gift to them, you are sending merchandise? Maybe I am not understanding the issue.

ETSY have removed the 'unmark as gift' option although it still shows at the moment as an option.

They say they don't want sellers to be able to do this even though most buyers don't actually understand what it means (better explanation from ETSY when making a purchase would be nice)

I guess somebody changed the wording.  The original was for sending a gift receipt without pricing on it.  The seller had to enable the rest for a note, gift wrapping etc.  So either the wording in the bubble is wrong and it still just means a gift receipt or they altered it to mean a buyer could include a note.  Since I have never enabled the gift wrapping I can't say more about it.

I also miss being able to "unmark as gift" when I see that the purchaser and the recipient are the same person. When a customer marks a purchase as a gift, the customer receives a "You've received a gift from Etsy" half-sheet rather than the normal packing slip. This confuses customers and it just looks strange.

The "marked as gift" that the OP is asking about has nothing to do with Customs or Import/Export as far as I know and shouldn't affect anything on the Customs form (that I know of). The OP simply wants to be able to click the "unmark as gift" button to revert back to the normal packing slip when it's obvious the item is being sent to the purchaser and not to a gift recipient. We had this ability until recently and the "button" is still there but it no longer enables the normal packing slip. It's clickable but it doesn't change anything. This is a loss and it would be lovely if that function would return.

@TatumBradleyCo  Just customize the Order form and use that in place of the packing slip. If they're adding personalization, it prints on the order form. You can revise the order settings to take out the price, remove the photo, etc.  Hope this helps.

That does not work. I tried that several times. If that works, then they made that an option less than 24 hours ago. There is a "Buyer Notes" option, but it does NOT work.

This is what my note says, and if they mark it as a gift, then I cannot get it to print on the Packing Slip. I don't care if they mark it as a gift as long as Etsy can give me the option to print my shop note on the packing slip.

@TatumBradleyCo   I understand your frustration. The other alternative > I would type the note on a sheet of paper as many times as you can get it on one sheet, and enclose one note with your package. I know it's not what you want to do. You really don't need to enclose a packing slip.
