I'm very concerned about Etsy retiring the old listing editor as both my shops are bilingual and the translations are not available in the new listing manager. My customers are half English-speakers and half French natives and the automated translations are so bad as to be completely useless. I cannot even figure out how to download all my French translations. I have thousands of listings so don't tell me to do it manually. When I download my shops' "for sale" listings, only the English version is downloaded.
I agree, the new version is aesthetically ugly and the bar below is annoying, I can't translate from Italian to English and I can't even copy and paste the tags because it deletes them if you click on them, so much wasted space.
Why is what works always taken away?
Yes, same problem here @FrenchVintagePrints !
Every time over the last few months when Etsy asked me “why did you switch to the old form” I replied “translation windows are missing”. I must have answered that question twenty times!
My shop is French, but I sell all over the world and my descriptions are long, precise and quite complex. I've done all the translations by hand, because even though machine translation is getting better, it's still full of bizarre things! I simply don't understand how I'm supposed to make them using the new form
We can think all we want about the aesthetics of the new form, but the absence of such a vital feature for bilingual stores is simply absurd.
I've seen other posts about this. I don't understand, because I thought your whole shop can be set to have automatic translations, dependant upon the language settings of the user? Or is it something else?
Listings are also automatically translated. Shoppers searching the site will see listings in their preferred language. Any manual translations you provide will override automatic translations.
