I entered a tracking number, went to the post office and had the package scanned. It is being processed but still shows as pre-transit. This is now affecting my star seller rating even though this is obviously a technical issue on the shipper's side and shouldn't affect my rating. Has anyone had this issue before? Can anything be done?

@TheReadery : This issue has been addressed in several threads on this forum. How long ago did you ship? Have the packages been scanned when you check on the post office site? Often the CSV file is often behind reality. Make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. Often recent shipments are not correctly / timely updated. Our experience is that a day or two after the package has been scanned the CSV file correctly shows tracking and shipment status.
It also appears that orders without a processing time will count against the Star Seller metric.
That being said, there appear to have been issues with AfterShip on some packages sent on or after about September 22nd.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
It should get a scan at the first hub that will put it into tracking as moving? (I am assuming this is USPS tracking number not a FC flat or letter..those are not really trackable and the number is not a USPS tracking number but a Pitney Bowes number)

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
Unless you watch them do the scan when you mail it, it is a crapshoot when they will do it. They are supposed to scan it when the post office receives the package, but often they don't scan it until it gets to the regional hub a couple days later. I have even had some delivered that were never scanned and still said Pre-Transit. Not a lot you can do about it. That is why I always insist they scan my scan sheet in front of me, or individual packages while I am there if I take them to the post office.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
@CraftsCreations2020: Are you shipping Ground Advantage or are you using Etsy's First Class Mail for flats? The latter's "tracking number" is not a tracking number but essentially a serial number issued by (and tracked on) Pitney Bowes.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
The postal clerk may not have scanned the item so it may be waitng for one.
or
It was scanned but you have to wait for the dump into the computer system. If this was less than 24 hours, it can take time for it to show up.
Give it 24 hours before thinking this has affected your star seller.
If you shipped and the scan did not take place plus it is longer that 24 hours/ 48 hours, it is possible it can affect your star rating as you may now be outside your processing time frame.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
You can also extend your processing times a bit to account for post office pickup/scanning delays. I've had to do this as lately as our mail delivery/pickups are once again unreliable. At the post office, I wait in line to make sure packages are scanned and not just tossed in bins without doing so.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
You are not alone! I too am having this same issue! Usps says that it's a issue with their site and their tracking numbers! As for star seller being effected, I'm not sure how to fix that issue either. I have noticed that eventually it does get scanned and inputted on usps but etsy doesn't update on their end. I still say "pre transit" even though it's delivered.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
Mine say it is delivered and then a day or to later it says no tracking even though you click on the tracking number and it goes to the post office showing every step the post office did.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
Insist upon a receipt when at the PO, as it is proof that they have accepted the items, with time and date on receipt. You can then include a copy to send to Etsy.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
I just had this happen. Entered a tracking number, it was scanned 45 minutes later, then departed that post office a few hours later. You can click the tracking number in the order and see the progress. However, star seller stats says I did not ship with a tracking number. Highly doubt Etsy cares.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
I lost my star seller for it as well. Last friday Ali said it was the post office fault. Today 2 more changed from ok to no tracking number and Weston tried to blame me for putting the same tracking on both until I showed him both orders and a different tracking number on each. I am getting so tired of Etsy I am about ready to find a different selling platform. I have been having trouble getting pictures to load up both in the market place and in my store If buyers are seeing the same thing thats not good.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
I am having the same problem for months! I even changed the shipping carrier because Etsy claimed that this was the problem. But still the same ...orders are delivered but Etsy tracking shows 'pre-transit". I constantly contact Etsy support but they do not seem to care

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
I am also having this problem. I've actually had two customers reach out to me to let me know that Etsy is reporting my packages as "pre-transit" yet they've all been delivered. I even went through every tracking number by hand and they were all accurately reported/ marked as delivered on USPS site. I contacted Etsy and they don't seem to care. I'm not sure why I'm paying Etsy so much if every day I need to open a ticket for them to manually update my tracking info for my customers.

Re: Tracking Issue with Package
Here in Germany this happens very often, even though parcels have been scanned. I have even had positive reviews from customers whilst Etsy still shows „pre-transit“. As yet this has not affected my Star Seller but still very annoying. Why can this not be fixed? Also needing to be fixed: the banner that pops up continually reminding me to buy one of my own items…
