I print out all of my orders, and the option to Print is right next to Mark as Gifts... Several times I have accidentally clicked the option to Mark everything as Gifts by mistake.
I would love for Etsy to update this option to either make a pop-up to confirm you want to mark everything as gifts -- or do something to prevent them all from being marked as gifts by accident.
When I have marked all of my orders as gifts, I have no idea if the customer set that option or it was me by mistake. I would love to make it less likely for me to make this mistake. I usually go back and just set all of the orders as NOT gifts, but I don't know if I have removed that from a legit gift order.
I agree. I print out one days orders at a time and twice now I have accidentally click MARK AS GIFT. I do not see any clear way to discern which were originally ordered as gift and thus can't correct my mistake.
I don't see that it makes any difference really. Marking an order as gift does nothing, and there really is nothing the seller needs to do. I know some sellers add a packing slip or copy of the order, which I guess they would leave out if the order is marked as gift. But I have never seen the need to do that. Gift message is a different story, but I'd really rather Etsy removed the option for the buyer to mark an order as gift, it is not clear enough to buyers what it means and what it does not mean. Some mark everything as gift because they think it will get them out of paying duty on international purchases, which of course it will not.
Exactly this! It is not clear to the buyer what that means. I understood it to mean that a gift receipt is enclosed so the recipient knows who sent the gift. I had at least 7 items marked as gifts in December but the buyer and recipient were the same so it would make no sense to enclose a gift receipt. You never know what is in the buyer's mind when they do this so I usually write and ask. Several told me they marked by mistake. Two said they didn't want a gift note enclosed. A couple others were vague--I think they thought items might come gift wrapped and that's why the marked as gift. I wish Etsy would make it a lot clearer to buyers what marking as a gift means.
It does seem like a weird option to include when selecting multiple orders.
Maybe you can try filtering out the Marked as Gift orders and printing them first.
