Since a few weeks I'm getting sales of "today" ( early in the morning) deposited "today, "and not the next day.
I don't mind, what concerns me is, that orders that I ship at night are being marked as shipped at 3 pm, instead of 9 am.
I'm concerned this could result in orders that I mark shipped after 6 pm for some reason, like, been shopping, appear as having been shipped too late.
I have set my time to Germany.
Since a few weeks I'm getting early sales of "today" deposited "today, "and not the next day.
Also, if I ship an order at 9 in the morning, Etsy shows I shipped at 3 in the afternoon.
So if I would ship later on the evening, after 6 pm, it might show I shipped after midnight and thus, too late?.
I have set my time to Germany.
Reposted to make it clearer.
@AnnaleasFinest - Where did you set your time? I have no idea where that is.
Crafty explained it to me just recently, -
Go to shopmanager--
>> settings
>> options
and then scroll to the bottom.
My time is correctly set to Germany, but not inside my shop!
Thank you. It's been so long I forgot I already did that.
same here!!
It's a time zone thing. It has been like this for me in Australia for a long time.
Germany is currently 6 hours ahead of Etsy New York time. If you look at the tracking for one of your completed orders, on the Etsy side you will see that the date and time for each scan event has 6 hours added to it, compared to the correct date and time when you click through to the carrier's tracking page.
If you mark an order complete after 6pm your time, the completed order will show Ships tomorrow, at your midnight it will show Ships today, and at your next midnight it will show Shipped on mmm dd, with the date being one day after you shipped.
I reported this behaviour years ago but it's never been fixed.
When Etsy made the change to calculate our ship by dates based on our own time zone settings I was afraid that I would get dinged, but I wasn't - phew. Somehow the ShippingStats csv reports the correct Shipped on date, even though the completed orders show otherwise.
Sorry I can't answer your question about when the funds are cleared for deposit but I will keep an eye on it.
@DaysofYoreTreasures The inconsistency with timestamps for different functions further complicates the issue
I just received an Order
Ordered 12:09pm, Wed, Jun 4, 2025
I sent a confirmation message immediately and it was recorded as
Janine and UgurJun 3, 2025
So, obviously, the Order timestamp is in Aust time and the Message timestamp is in US / NY Time.
It is no wonder many are confused because Etsy uses UTC/Local Time/NY time and, sometimes, it is hard to tell the difference
I, too, have raised the shipping timestamps with Support over the years but have given up as nothing has changed and, although timestamps appear to be contradictory, I have never had an issue
Also I have never been able to work out the "Ships Tomorrow" and "Ships Today" as I never know if this is "Etsy Tomorrow" or "My Tomorrow" and when, exactly, that "Tomorrow" starts and ends. Are you using 6 pm in your explanation to @AnnaleasFinest because 6 pm in Germany is Midnight in NY?
You mention this is happening after an Order is marked as complete, but those "Ship by Tomorrow" also appear if an Order is still within processing timeframe and still has over 24 hours before it is due to ship. Again, I am not sure if this is "Etsy Tomorrow" or "My Tomorrow" and when, exactly" "Tomorrow" turns into "Today".
Just to clarify for others, we are both in the Australian Eastern time zone which is currently 14 hours ahead of North American Eastern time, or midnight Etsy NY time.
For us, any order we mark complete after 10am local time shows as Ships tomorrow, and Etsy adds 14 hours to the date/time stamp for every scan they receive from Australia Post.
But - why are they adding 14 hours, thereby creating a date/time that doesn't even exist anywhere in the world yet?
You'd think they would subtract it if anything, to match their local time.
Janine, yes I mentioned after 6pm to the OP because they are 6 hours ahead.
I haven't noticed any incorrect ship by dates on open orders for some time. Since they started using the seller's local time zone, I see my ship by dates clicking over correctly at midnight my time.
For me the problem only appears in completed orders.
I know Etsy sometimes uses NY time and sometimes uses UTC time, but I am confident they use NY time for our orders, based on years of past pain seeing the ship by date click over at 2, 3 or 4pm depending on the time of year.
@DaysofYoreTreasures Thanks, Mary. I believe we are seeing the same thing - Orders "counting down" in NY Time - so words like "Tomorrow" or "Today" are NY time. NY "Tomorrow" is 14 Hours after Aust "Tomorrow".
Edited to add ..... Sorry, I had to put wood on the fire because it is so cold here today.
I use UPS and there is always a + 14 Hours on Etsy updates to Tracking but UPS Website is always accurate
Yeah, it's bl--dy freezing. Apparently we are getting an Antarctic blast for the next few days.
But nah, I still don't get it. We are about as far forward in time zones as it gets. So why is Etsy adding 14 hours to your UPS scans when that pushes it into a future that has not happened yet, anywhere?
