For the past few days, the thumbnail adjustment tool has not be working - I have had to go in and "adjust" numerous times, each time I list an item, to finally get something centered and more close up to show up better. It worked perfectly before - unfortunately, it is acting considerably wonky now.
I used to be able to go back & adjust the thumbnails on the old listings form after a listing was published. I've never been able to do that with the new form at all. So I also decided to get my main image correctly cropped before uploading.
Same here. As soon as I get it adjusted and centered, it saves it completely off center so that only half the product shows in the photo. If you keep trying, eventually you'll catch it on a day that it works....for about 5 minutes. When you pair this with the fact that the shopping cart only works half the time, you really have to wonder about the engineers and coders Etsy is hiring. It's beyond ridiculous how everything is constantly broken.
@FireImp What you described is exactly what I am experiencing! It was working fine up until around a week or so ago and then started doing just what you explained! It looks centered after adjusting/centering and then shifts way to the side after listing. I do hope they will look into this and fix it - it had been working perfectly and reluctant as I was about moving to the new listing form, it was probably my favorite thing they had improved on. Now it isn't working at all
I adjust my photos before uploading but sometimes I want to zoom more on a photo when working on my shop. The feature should work. Adjusting thumbnails, featured listings, and rearranging shop items are all glitchy.
To those suggesting just fix the photo before hand - that does not solve the problem.
There is an actual new issue with thumbnails this week more than just the usual not working as well as it should - there now seems to be an issue adding ALT text. I was changing some of my primary photos today and tried to add ALT text to the new primary photos on the thumbnail screen and I could only type in one letter and then the cursor is lost. I gave up. (And yes I'm typing this message with the same keyboard / browser no problem.)
I added alt text just fine the other day, but today there is this enormous lag like when they first introduced the new listings page. I enter 1 letter, big pause, then another letter, pause. BUT, I can copy & paste into the alt text box just fine. So that is a fast workaround.
Yes I did end up doing some copy and paste but that was only a half measure - good enough but not what I would have liked. I couldn't adjust the details like I wanted. And doing any other "extra" steps was just a bridge too far.
I've found that Etsy has been a website filled with "workarounds" for years now, which is obviously not the way it should be! It took them a long time to "fix" that lag when they first introduced the new listings form.
