This Item Not Available in your Region - Ceramic Bowl

Hi, I see this issue everywhere but none of the solutions have worked for me so far, and Etsy support has been canned replies that have not helped.

I have a ceramic bowl that keeps saying "This Item Not Available in your Region." I have tried changing out the images, re-writing the text. I even created an entirely new post with totally different keywords and text and got the same result.

I also tried changing the images to just the image of a dog as a test and still broken. The last test I did was duplicate a working post, swap the images, publish, and again same thing. 

Now I have paid 3 times to try and submit an item for sale and it has not worked... Any ideas?

It took a while to figure out which item it is since the listing link shows it is not available as you say. But I found the thumbnail in your shop.

Is it the word Reactive in the title? Not knowing what the description says, or what tags you have, it will be difficult to pinpoint / offer advice.

It has to be a word combination you have used, or some chemical or plant or banned substance or mature content that you may have used unintentionally that has the bots in a bother.

Maybe read the prohibited list to see if that might trigger an idea?

I've had issues with a few shadowbanned listings & I had to figure out the word that was causing items to not be found in normal search. It can take a while to figure out.

I listed the entire content off the listing below if it helps. I do not know if there is a way to get Etsy bots to re-look at the listing or if once it is flagged it stays flagged forever no matter what you change.

I have removed all the words in the post and all the images and it still shows up like this. It's like the entire listing is flagged. 

The weird thing is that I sell basically the same hand made pottery in every listing and just duplicate each listing usually and change the images and a few words. Nothing is banned, no chemicals, plants or mature content. All the clay and glazes used in creation are food safe. 

It has been really frustrating.

@TTCSCeramics: Listings are often only checked when published and / or renewed so if there is "flaw" in all of your listings it may not become apparent for some time.

OP, the color combination is said to represent colors of Satanism, according to Google. Why not try red and gray for the listing? You may have woken the Etsy bots who think you are into a hate ideology. I am truly mystified why bots can do this research, but can't find candy bars, Disney, or Harry Potter.

The original version was flagged, but you edited the original version which still has the same listing #.  It's like you cleaned up the item, but the residue (same listing #, for instance) is still present.  

You mentioned 'food safe'.  Did you by any chance mention the FDA or FDA approved in that particular listing?

I did not mention FDA or FDA approved. Also I have created one new listing from scratch with a new listing ID and duplicated a listing that works and just changed the photos and a few key words. Both gave me the same error.

OP, obviously Etsy doesn't like the photographs, text or description for some unknown reason. Have you tried Google lens to see if your bowl is somewhere else on the internet? Has Etsy sent you a deactivation email? We are trying to help, but need more information.

The bowl could not be anywhere else as I took the photo myself and uploaded it.

Etsy has not sent a deactivation email. 

I only noticed because I clicked the listing and saw the error. 

When contacting Etsy they first said they had internal issues while on chat. Then the first email was a "here is how to set your region" which was not the issue as my region has not changed in the last year and this issue is only happening to one listing. The second time Etsy contacted me they said "Your listing(s) were removed because Etsy prohibits the sale of hazardous substances and as a result, we are not able to accommodate these items in our marketplace" however there is nothing hazards being sold. So that did not help either.

This is very odd.  Why not try adding it on to another listing, like the red & blue bowl?  Then create a color choice option for the customer to chose.  You’d have to take a photo of both bowls together for the first photo though.

This was duplicated from that listing or another just like it. So it's weird that just this one is having an issue. I do list things that are similar but the style and size, weight are all different.

OP, Etsy has told you that they believe it is hazardous. It's probably the glaze, if Etsy believes it has lead or cadmium. I have also read on Google that homemade ceramic pottery should be handwashed, not placed in a dishwasher. See if you can get Etsy chat to tell you more about "hazardous substances" and maybe you can explain what's in your glaze.

Yesterday, Etsy wouldn't let a vintage seller list Mikasa stoneware because it was of the era when lead was in the glaze.

The original post said Lead Free Glaze but I removed that recently thinking that the bots would see the word Lead. 

These are had made and I use food safe clay and glazes. 

All ceramics, store or handmade can be put in a dishwasher but it will shorten the lifespan. I recommend hand washing but that does not mean you cant also use a dishwasher.

@TinLizziAntiques  "Homemade" ceramic pottery doesn't always have to be handwashed. All the glazes I use are food safe and dishwasher safe. I haven't noticed any discernible damage after putting my own pieces in a dishwasher after 30 years. Yes, I've had some of my pieces in daily use for that long and they look great.

I don't use the phrase "lead free" because lead is not the only no-no in glazes for functional pottery. I use the phrase "food safe" on pretty much all my listings and they've never been flagged.

I can view that listing just fine but I'm in the UK so I'm not sure that helps. I can't see anything that would restrict it.

I am in Australia and I can click on that item without a problem.
I can also change the Ship to country within the listing to any other country in your list & Apply, including the United States so long as I enter a valid zip code.

But, if I change my country to United States at the bottom of the page I can no longer open the listing. Instead I get what you are seeing -Sorry, this item is unavailable in your region.

It looks like an Etsy technical glitch.

I see you're in CA.  It may be the color "red" and "food", as California just outlawed some red dyes in food.  And that's what the issue is with "not available in your region" bit.  The bots probably can't tell the difference between a red pottery glaze and your use of "food safe" in your listing.  They just see red + food + California.

Worth a shot. I removed the word red from key words, description and title. Deactivated, waited 5 min and re-activated. Did not fix it but maybe it takes a while. Not sure what the rules are once a listing was flagged.

Hi, I've just had the same message happen with me for some vintage knife rests that I've just listed.  It would be good to know if you get the problem resolved and how.
