I am still getting an orange #! over my dashboard icon, and thinking I had forgotten to message someone I checked and several of the confirmation messages that I sent yesterday, and some of which I got responses to, are missing. It goes without saying that my SSB will be affected by this, so I am in the process of sending the messages again, with an explanation, of course. This will be annoying to my customers, some of which have Etsy shops and will feel the need to respond to protect their SSB status. Anyone else?
Part 2 of this hot mess. I just checked my orders and the new confirmation messages that I Just resent moments ago to cover the missing ones are now missing, too!!!!
What do you mean by confirmation messages? I don't send any messages to my customers when I ship. Etsy does that for me.
@FishBayElements Others have indicated the messages are getting attached to old orders. Messages have been a bit screwy with Etsy trying to make things better.
Check the order. Do you see the message thread from messages? That's one way. Another check to see if they messaged you at other times.
Don't worry. You are a good seller.
If you are the one sending the message, any response to that message by a buyer does not need to be answered to within 24 hours, and shouldn't affect SS at all.
SS only requires you to answer all first messages you receive. Replies to your own sent messages does not count.
But yes, there is a message glitch going on.
@CappuccinoLace There are a lot of weird things in messages currently. I hadn't experienced any problems until today. I messaged one of my clients 15 times! She was real kind about it and I felt like a daft idiot. I prefer to keep all communication on Etsy when it relates to an Etsy purchase but maybe I should switch to email until it's fixed!
Now I gingerly hit send and impatiently wait for it to pop in that it was sent. If it didn't show in the message stream, I resort to email. Excellent start to the weekend lol

Check your 'Sent Messages" folder to see if they are there. Does Etsy's answer (and the entire thread) at https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/UPDATE-Messages-appear-to-not-send-when-responding-fr... help you?
Thank you! Yes, they are in my sent messages folder. I didn't think to check there. I'm usually here each day for awhile, but totally didn't see that Etsy was working on it. 🤦

If this is for messages with someone you have communicated before, check your "Sent Messages" folder to see if they are there. They no longer appear with the order, but have been lumped together in an old thread.
Etsy announced that it will now be nesting messages from the same customer in one message thread. The messages aren't missing, they are all in one thread. There's a blue banner on our shops' Messages page that says:
"We've made it easier to stay on top of Messages
Starting June 30, messages from the same buyer will be combined into one thread—so you'll have fewer conversations to keep track of, and can easily track your relationships with buyers."
