Anyone else been subject to this scam attempt?
I'm sorry you were targeted by a scammer impersonating Etsy Support. Here is the Announcement about the "From Etsy" Folder (in our Messages). Unfortunately, it is located under past Announcements.

Should you receive a Message claiming to be from Etsy Support/Staff/Assistant, etc. and it is not in the From Etsy Folder, Mark it as Spam (just so you don't get dinged for Star Seller), and do not engage.
I'm going to post three threads that all sellers should read:

Scams are currently rampant,
I can't believe Etsy removed the content but didn't help you AT ALL.
This is a SCAM. DO NOT REPLY.
Mark the message as spam in your Etsy Messages.

Yes, there are thousands of posts of people that have been subject to that scam attempt. So many that Etsy has written multiple announcements about it, added a note in your messages about it that you had to acknowledge to close it out, and added a 'from Etsy' folder to your messages tab so you can clearly identify when it's actually from them vs a scammer.

ETA: Should you EVER receive a Message from a FAKE Buyer, claiming they need your email for an Order, zap it into Spam. A Buyer will never need your email for an Order. Scammers are running rampant, and this is another common scam.
When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in your Orders & Shipping Page (in your Shop Dashboard). If it isn't there, you do not have an Order.

@Artfromthebikeshed: It is a SCAM - you might want to read the excellent post by @bradgoodell in https://community.etsy.com/t5/Managing-Your-Shop/How-to-Spot-a-Scam-No-a-Buyer-Doesn-t-Need-Your-Ema... and https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Why-do-they-ask-me-for-my-e-mail-in-order-to-make-a-p...
There is also official information from Etsy at https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343128-How-to-Handle-Spam-and-Suspicious-Messages?segm...
Real messages from Etsy are now going into their own section on your messages page https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899

Be sure to mark the message as SPAM so that it does not affect your stats.
Yes it just happened to me and I"m not sure if it is a scam or not.

Did the person ask for your email address? It is a SCAM. Do not respond. Mark the message as spam.
If the message says they are from Etsy, but it's not in the 'from Etsy' folder, then it's a scam.
Thank you Brad...I read all three, though I had already seen the first one. Very good information...thank you so much for sharing! : )
Same here but the accounts were removed before I can reply
Some great and informative replies to my issue in here. Thankyou.
The fact that ETSY SUPPORT sent an email should give everyone pause.
@Artfromthebikeshed The content was removed from your post so I can't see what was said, BUT IF Etsy sent you a"message" you would see their message where it says: "From Etsy" (not your "Inbox" messages). Hope this helps.
NEW SELLERS: Make it a habit to visit the Etsy forums regularly - like, two or three times a week at minimum. It's always a good idea to stay up-to-date on all things Etsy. You will be much less likely to make mistakes and find yourself in a heap o' trouble...
Fair point, I’ve been here since 2014 but seldom visit the forums.
