Hi folks, I just received this message. Should I trust it? It looks very odd. What could the scam be, if it is one? Why did Etsy contact me in a suspicious way if it is genuine?
Hello, Dear Seller. I am an Etsy technical support agent, your item was paid for by a buyer, but an unforeseen error occurred due to the processing of the transaction in the backup processing center, please enter your email into this chat to receive a customized form to confirm the sale of your item. Thank you!
Regards Etsy
@ChessheadShop These are spam / hack attempts. Etsy seems to be onto some accounts and is now automatically flagging some
"Thanks! This one got flagged automatically and is already out." (see Community Specialisr Mod response above)
Mark as "Spam" report to Etsy and move on. These messages do not deserve any response whatsoever. However, on occasion I have been known to advise that I am "referring to Etsy Admin for clarification and approval"
I have received that as well and when trying to enter my email address it appears as error. Spam?
@LittletreatsByTina Absolutely! Spam and ignore the message
I just had this happen to me and before I realized it was a scam I had clicked the link and gave my email. I know... I'm furious at myself for falling for it. But now I am terrified what could happen and what I should do now.
When I clicked the link in the originally message on etsy, it sent my to the listing of the product I was selling, so is it safe to assume that link wasn't the bad link? Since giving them my email I have received an email from them but I have not clicked on anything in the email and deleted it straight away as I am guessing the dangerous link will be in that email.
I'd love some advice on what I should do, I've already listed it as spam, I've seen lots of people say dont click or fall for it, but not seen much about what to do if you did do it! Any advice is welcome as I am very stressed right now!!
