I'm a digital product seller and I've only been selling on Etsy for about 2m. And I've in theory sold 2 items. 1 item shows up in my sold items, it's in my order and revenue stat too. Even got the order details. Sunday after posting some items, a potential buyer sent me a message asking for the email associated with my account, and it seemed weird as the 1st sale didn't have the person asking for my email before buying. I even got an email saying "The buyer has purchased the product successfully and completed payment". But this email sales confirmation looks different from the 1st.
It doesn't show a product image, or the order details. Just has a button that sales click next. And I click it, and it shows a picture of the product I supposedky sold. Then theres a button that says' receive 6 euros. Than gives a name, order number, delivery address (which this part is blank). And when I click Receive 6 euros, it requires me to enter my card details. And with that, I'm totally suspicious of the detail of requiring my card details, I immediately started to look for help.
If this was all a scam, this was almost a foolproof one. When I clicked reply to the sales confirmed email, it's from an icloud email, and website I got taken too is an etsy-checkout.cloud sight. Did I really get duped, and think I made a sale, when in fact someone was trying to make money off me for my own product? I was super excited over the sale, but now I feel depressed the revenue I should have gotten is just a fantasy over someone tricky.
Did I almost get scammed?
Another one @FabioMcMustache
It is a scam, do not click any links!
All sales will appear in your dashboard ONLY!
Run a deep scan on your computer and set up a 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) in your account if you have not done so already.
They are targeting new shops.
Thanks, we took action on this one.
You are, unfortunately, another new seller that has been contacted with the ''asking for my email'' scam. There have been too many posts lately with the same situation. Just one of many:
Solved: Someone asking for my email address to make paymen... - Welcome to the Etsy Community
Just on a side note: Love your artwork, but for future customers you have to be very mindful that many do not use design programs and may result in many customers asking how to access the files or separate the images into individual ones resulting in receiving lower reviews or even chargebacks.
Separate the images and make them available as instant PNG downloads
i think we got the sam scam attempt
Hello, I would like to pay via etsy if possible, I need your email address
with 2 images attached like etsy rulebook pages O_o
Unfortunately I got the same message. I almost responded with my email as i don’t expect scams from Etsy. But a gut feeling made me check to be sure. Wish i can send an attachment to show how realistic it all looks.

I just got a message today from a buyer requesting my email to pay through “etsy”. They even included a screen shot of what looks like an etsy “rule book”. I was browsing the forums to see of this was legit but it seems like it may be a scam. I am so sick of scams.
bonjour, j'ai reçu 3 mails en 3 jours pour la même chose que vous , j'ai contacté etsy qui m'on dit de mettre dans les spam.
Je suis deçu de ces escroqueries car je pensais que c'était des vrais ventes
And that's how they get you.
They count on new sellers being too excited over a sale to pay much attention to all the alarms going off.
Online scams are running rampant right now. I’ve put clues to the latest scam on top. This list also contains clues to other common online scams. Hopefully it will help you and other sellers. Once you hit more than 2 red flags, shut down the conversation.
i got this scam too just now and i was about to get scammed until i realised how suspicous it sounded and quickly searched it up and found this very helpful, thanks.
Good to hear you avoided that!
I got the scam... And the email is from icloud.com lol, confirmation of email to buy
