At 4 a.m. EST today I received an E mail supposedly from my bank stating that an Etsy purchase I made did not go through due to lack of funds on my debit card. I have not made any such Etsy purchase but am a vendor. This is the bank I use to receive Etsy funds from when I sell something and when I buy labels. It asked me to log onto the bank site to view it. It asked for my SS#. I exited and called the bank and told them about pishing, canceled that card and getting a new one.
I don't know why Etsy was mentioned in particular.
Is anyone else having weird e mails like mine?
Thank you.
This sounds like a new variation of the scams that were/are going around. What is scary is how did they know which bank you use?--or perhaps if it is one of the big banks they just throw various bank names out there.
No, I have not heard of this one before--thanks for the warning--altho I would not give any information if I did receive one, it is troubling that they may know which bank you use.
It is concerning they know the bank name unless they are using random banks. Thanks for your reply.

OP, it's a newer version of a scam. Make sure to run a virus detection program on your devices, because a hacker may still be lurking. On Etsy, don't trust any message unless it appears in the "From Etsy" folder in a browser.
The Purple Puppy is fast. How's your weather out there? Wildflowers are in bloom here.
@TinLizziAntiques Today is clear and very very cold. It is still snow season here.
Last year our last snowfall was on May 9th.
Glad you caught it.. make sure to change all your passwords from a different device than the one you were using.. make sure you are set up for 2 Factor authentication-- and copy down the emergency codes they give you! Send emails like that to SPAM for your email..Only accept emails from people in your personal address book.
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.
@LILLYPOPSSTUDIO Make sure to run your anti-virus. And keep tabs on anything unusual your desktop may do. It sounds like you have keylogging on your computer. If you have a phone and no anti-virus on it that is one way they can find out which bank you use. It doesn't matter if you use the app or not. Phones are a dream for hackers to gain information from.
