Hi! My shop was suspended today because they wanted me to update my tax information. I did so by entering my correct name and SSN. I kept getting the same error no matter how many attempts. I thought I was losing my mind, so I went into my safe and got my actual SSN Card issued to me back in 1989 to confirm all my information that I was entering was correct (spoiler alert, it was entered correctly). I haven't been able to talk to any customer service person except for via Etsy Support Chat, which hasn't been very helpful. They just keep telling me to contact the IRS to see if there's been any changes.... which, there haven't. Seems like it's definitely on Etsy's end. Anyways, I really need my shop un-suspended ASAP and I am feeling completely helpless at this point. Has anyone experience this or have any advice? Thanks in advance. My husband suggested that I attempt to clear my computer's cache and try a different browser, but that didn't work either.
As you are based in the United States, I believe you can receive a call back from Etsy, they might be able to help you better.
Thank you so much for this information! I never saw this as an option on my end, so I really appreciate it. It says they should be calling me in about 29minutes. Thanks again
@RemyLuApparel you are very welcome!, hope they manage to assist you better
If anyone out there is wondering. They haven’t helped at all and my account is still suspended
Etsy hasn't closed your store down. If it was shut or on vacation - it would have a different notices on the shop front. Try listing something.
I did notice In your "sold" section, there are 20 items not showing up. That usually means they have been removed by Etsy. This is usually due to trademark infringement.
What was that design? Did you use any trademarks, brand names anywhere in the listings?
Often Etsy's right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. New sellers are often caught up in TM/CR infringement due to the higher rank "honeymoon".
If it's not just tax but ID verification try these: If you are using a VPN - turn it off. Make sure the same name matches across every credential: bank account, SSN, credit card etc. Etsy doesn't work with some online financial institutions, credit unions and some debit cards. You may need to open an account with a mainstream bank. There are two ID verifications - one for Etsy, one for Plaid.
You sell kids T-shirts , it can be an issue , I heard , there is some new regulation
Just my idea , I hope , you will find some solution

THIS.
The name you have in the taxpayer information, has to be exactly the same as the SSN, and exactly the same as your bank account,
So if you have
Jane M. Doe on one,
you can't have
Jane Mary Doe
on another
all three have to match
