Still can't log in. Etsy Tech Support now ignoring me completely.

Jump to solution

I am able to look at Etsy but still not able to log in. I tried posting on Etsy Sellers on Reddit but the mod won't approve my post and sends me an auto response that my shop must be suspended. No, as far as I can tell it's still active. Yesterday I processed a sale just from the email that Etsy sent but obviously can't access my Orders or Dashboard to enter tracking information.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Just updating... a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who tried to help! I finally got back in. What I found (and this doesn't make any sense to me, but I'm passing it along) is that in Chrome, when you go to the menu where you can clear your browser history, cache and cookies, it doesn't seem to fully clear all the cookies. So I followed these instructions to get at the cookies specifically:

On your computer, in Chrome.
At the top right where the 3 vertical dots are, click Settings .
Click Privacy and security.
Click Third-party cookies. ...
Click See all site data and permissions.
At the top right in the search box, search for etsy  (it was the first in the list for me so I didn't need to search for it).
To the right of the site (etsy), click Delete .
To confirm, click Delete.
Restart your computer and sign back in to etsy

When I went in to this, I discovered that there were still 14 Etsy cookies that the other action hadn't cleared. Once I cleared those I could not access this board either. So that was interesting.

To resolve the "rapid clicking/ tapping/ botlike activity" blocking message, I did what @GroundZeroCreations suggested and restarted my modem.

All of this done, I then waited 24 hours and tried again to log in... and it finally let me reset my password, and the new password worked! I am SO RELIEVED. Anyway, I thought that was very interesting that you have to take an extra step to really clear the cookies, not just fake clear the cookies...

Are you on a computer or phone? Have you tried another browser? Have you cleared your cache and cookies? Have you tried the app, or the website on your phone?

Hi -- I am on a Mac laptop and I normally use Chrome. I was just told that Chrome may causing a new issue. I tried on Safari, but at this point Etsy is no longer even sending me an email so that I can reset the password.

Can't sign in on my phone.

I did have several emails yesterday from Etsy tech support and they said the issue would be fixed after I cleared the cache and cookies, but then in the middle of that the guy just vanished. The issue wasn't resolved.

I'm really sorry you're going through this—login issues can be incredibly frustrating. Since your shop is still visible and purchases are going through, it’s a good sign that your account itself hasn't been deactivated.

Just to help narrow things down, did you happen to set up two-factor authentication when you first created your account? That can sometimes complicate login if the verification method (like an old phone number or app) is no longer accessible.

It might help if you could walk us through each step you're taking when you try to log in—what device you're using (phone, tablet, or computer), which browser, and exactly what message you're seeing. Even the smallest detail might offer a clue.

And while this might sound basic, are you 100% certain the email and password are correct? It's surprisingly easy to mix up things like the letter “O” and the number “0,” or an “l” (lowercase L) with the number “1.” Also, if you have more than one email address, it’s worth double-checking that you’re using the one associated with your Etsy account.

Be aware that after multiple unsuccessful login attempts, Etsy may temporarily lock your account for security reasons. I'm not sure what the current wait time is before trying again, but that might be something to factor in as well.

If you haven’t already, you might also want to try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies or using a different browser or device altogether. And if none of that works, reaching out to Etsy Support is probably your best bet—even though I know that can be a slow process at times.

Wishing you the best of luck—I hope you’re able to get back in soon!

Hi -- I normally use Chrome on a Mac. Someone told me that Etsy might be having a backend issue with Chrome. Not sure what others' experience is on this. I have cleared my cache and cookies, and tried signing in using Safari. No dice. I can't sign in on my phone either.

@KittenMeWares  I find my iMac works best on Firefox for Etsy.

I tried Firefox too but I think the top current problem (!) is what @GroundZeroCreations says... they've locked the password reset because I've tried too many times.

Here is something that's probably way too late for me to try at this point... https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/The-Chrome-browser-solution-for-You-ve-been-BLOCKED-m...

@KittenMeWares

You may want to give that a shot. But I think I wouldn't try logging in anymore today. Give Etsy's system time to clear all the missed chances.

I've gotten that "You have been blocked" message several times on Etsy. All I've had to do was delete the cookies & the issue went away right away.

When I have had issues on Etsy, it seems like my VPN has been part of the issue. If you are using a VPN, turn that off.

Try downloading the new version of Seller Etsy to your phone, your version may be out of date and that's why you can't access it.

@KittenMeWares

So happy to hear that you are up and running again! In Chrome, you can actually tailor how the browser handles cookies, etc. I have mine set to automatically delete all cookies every time I restart the computer.
