Stats from August, received in Sept, I previous wrote that Etsy shows two emails coming from the same customer at the same time. I responded to one instead of both after I verified they were identical time stamp and all. The AI isn't smart enough to see duplicates and throw one out, so I got a 67 failing grade. This month, rather than showing all rave reviews quick responses, it copied the old one from last month and gave me another failing grade. I show all those customer conversations in the messages through Etsy, but they ARE NOT ON THE NEW SPREADSHEET. Am I in some category, that Etsy is trying to push out? Is anyone else getting there stats jacked with? Anyone know who to contact?
@FancyThatEstateFinds: "The AI isn't smart enough to see duplicates ..." Thankfully the bots are not classifying Messages, yet. The Star Seller metric is that you need to reply to (or mark as SPAM) the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else.
"... it copied the old one from last month ..." Star Seller is based on three months - for the November 1st Star and badges it uses data from August, September, and October.
"... I show all those customer conversations in the messages through Etsy, but they ARE NOT ON THE NEW SPREADSHEET." Keep in mind that the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads. Also a new thread will not be included in the statistics until after the 24 hour reply window has passed, regardless of when you actually replied.
It's pretty easy. You receive the FIRST email - you reply to this email. Or mark it as spam. This system is automated and has been working like this since day one. Etsy won't "throw out" messages (thank goodness).
Stats are not wrong. Two new messages? Even if they are the same you need to respond to both. So answer one and spam the other. The rules are clear on this. All new messages have to be answered,
Etsy messages are not programmed to make judgements. It has no idea that the two messages are the same.
Star seller is based on three months. October is based on July August September. For November, July drops off but August still matters along with September and we are not done with October yet. So yes not answering those messages still counts for next month.
Simply spamming a customer's duplicate message might not be a good idea.
It might end up blocking any further communication from the potential customer to the seller.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of that. I sincerely searched for answers throughout Etsy, but did not find this information.
