I was just told I can mark spam as spam, I didn't know that so my response rate score dropped from 100% to 75%. I am newer to Etsy & that is the first time I received spam. Because I am new, it will take forever to get enough ratings & score opportunities. Please fix this! I already changed it to spam but my score is still 75% instead of 100%, Everything I do on Etsy is 100%. I was afraid of getting a virus so I did not reply to the spam
Hello, and welcome to the Etsy Community Forums!
We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. You can check it out here:etsy.com/starseller.
Having said that, and since this thread does not pertain to a technical issue, it will be closed to prevent it from going off-topic.
Thank you!

If the Star Seller badge is important to you, read the rules:
Marking it as spam now will not change it if it was from last month.
I did about 10 minutes ago, do I need to do it again?
I don’t believe it will change if it was from last period/month, only in current month you are in, fingers got too fast was not finished posting oops.
does it take 3 months to get star seller back? I'm new so I don't get very many sales in a month.
I read the rules, 10 months ago. I didn't recall it saying I might receive spam & to mark it as spam.
"What messages count towards the message response rate?
Etsy has always said "every message". Every message needs to be dealt with. It either needs to be answered or marked as Spam.
How would Etsy know it was spam otherwise, and not just a message you ignored?
Star Seller is based on a certain time period, so it takes a while to see improvement when you make changes. You have to respond to every Convo, even if it is another seller contacting you about something you bought from them, or else you have to mark it as spam. You only have to respond to the first message in a convo series, but you either have to reply or mark it as spam at least once, or it will count against you.
once you lose star seller status, does it take 3 months to get it back?
Marking those messages as spam now, will fix it for the calculation of the November 1 badge, but it will not retroactively change the score for previous month's calculations. Etsy will not revisit previous allocations, but once the changes you made today bed in (approx 24-48 hours from the change) your stats for next month's badge will change.
ok so if this month I got star seller status AND got notified of the 75% rating the same month, it should get fixed.
NO, once the badges are awarded (on the 1st of the month) they will not be changed. You can only fix spam errors for the next badge allocation, not the one that has come and gone.
Also, apparently the app does not have the "mark as spam" option so I had no idea it existed since I only use the app. Super frustrating.
Which app? The legacy Sell on Etsy app (Orange E icon) or the newer Etsy Seller app (blue E icon)? iPhone or Android?
I mark messages as spam on the app all day long some days. (8 times just today so far)
On the The legacy Sell on Etsy app for android just open the message and click the 3 dots on the top right side. Mark as spam is one of the options to click there.
No idea how to do it on the newer Etsy Seller app but I'm sure someone around here will chime in if it's possible with instructions.
Worst case scenario just use your mobile device browser to log in to etsy and mark as spam.
If you just marked it as spam, it can take a day or two for stats to update. It will not change any numbers from the past review period, but it will help for the current period.
I had no idea there was a new blue Etsy seller app!
