I recently had an order that I wanted to hand deliver. I marked it as completed therefore not getting a tracking number. My shipping on time and tracking stat for Star Seller took a hit because of no tracking number. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks in advance!
There is nothing to fix. Etsy is pretty clear in Help Center here https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller-?segment=selling
"What if I offer local pick-up or delivery for my items?
At this time, orders that don't have tracking because they are delivered or picked up in person will be considered shipped without tracking, and will not meet the Star Seller criteria for shipping. "
So I would think we would be forced to purchase and then request a refund for shipping. For a company this large, one would think they would have the details worked out. Local customers most often request a pick up to save what may be an expensive shipping cost. Etsy, as a business, should respect both the customer and the seller.
No, unfortunately Etsy does not support in person delivery. If you cannot provide a tracking number the order will count against you. Some countries have a threshold under which tracking is not required, but in the US tracking is cheap and readily available so it is required on all orders. It is too late for this order, but for the future, you can purchase an Etsy letter stamp for around 60c, which will count as tracked shipping, and use it to send the buyer a receipt or thank you note after the fact. Either that or don't accept requests for local pickup.
Nope. Can't be fixed.
I have missed "Star Seller" for 2 months now because I shipped a small inexpensive piece of jewelry without tracking within Canada. Saved the client a lot of money, more than the cost of the jewelry. I refuse to ask customers to pay for my "Star Seller" status. There is no pride in the badge if my customer is put in second place to it.
@MartiqueTreasures Well said!
Kind of silly isn't it?.. you go the extra mile and hand deliver to a customer so that makes you not star seller material....
I have never managed to get the Star Seller Badge...for a Canadian shop it just doesn't work. (Canadian post is terribly expensive for tracking small parcels) ..but I am not convinced that it really makes a big difference...my sales are pretty steady without it. I just don't let it worry me and do my best.
Same here, it doesn't make a difference. It is just one more thing made to freak out the sellers
I lost my star seller status for 2 months over something small, and tried not to get too worked up about it.
However now, with Etsy placing so many shops on reserve payments, I care much more. They aren't being consistent, but the announcement states that star sellers will be exempt from their shops being placed on payment account reserves. In another thread, there are reports of star seller shops still being placed on reserve payments, so, it's no guarantee. Just to be safe, I'm going to try to do all I can to try to maintain star seller status.
Here are a few things you can do to reduce the chances of a payment account reserve being placed on your shop:
Ce n'est pas très réglementaire mais tu prends le numéro de suivi d'une autre commande que tu viens de faire et tu le mets sur ta vente qui n'en a pas
Je l'ai déjà fait
Not advisable, this is deliberate manipulation of the system, and there are several ways this could backfire on you.
"It's not very regulatory but you take the tracking number of another order that you have just made and you put it on your sale which does not have one
I've already done it"
Wow. There is a much more simple and honest way to do it and that's mail the receipt to the recipient using the letter flat rate.
Doing it your way...won't save you from a claim since you have no proof it was delivered/shipped etc.
