You didn’t respond to that one messages so you got dinged for it. There isn’t any technical issue, Etsy makes it clear that all new messages need to be answered or put in the spam folder.

Many people get caught out by this but it is clearly stated in the rules that ALL initial messages need be answered.

The Message response rate only applies to the first message in a thread. Initial messages from both buyers and sellers on Etsy are counted towards the Message response rate.

If you mark that message as spam now, your stats should adjust in a day or two, so it should put you back on track for the badge at the end of the month.  For the future remember to ALWAYS answer any new message, regardless of who it is from or what it is about, and if you don't want your purchases to affect your seller account, perhaps consider opening a separate account just for buying.
