Greetings. I feel that my star seller status is incorrectly affected by the messaging system. I was docked percentage points for not responding to a person I PURCHASED and item from. The Seller wrote me to tell me that she was sorry for her delay shipping on a Christmas item I ordered from her. I didn't feel it needed a response from me since it was her apology and I was satisfied. My sales account (star SELLER) should not be docked points for a personal purchase I made. Please please adjust my status, as you can see I have really strived to maintain my star seller status.
Thank you,
Amy
@Twenty20Mendocino: Probably almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but a quick search would show you innumerable threads about your exact issue. As it says right on your Star Seller page, you need to reply to the FIRST message of a NEW THREAD.
It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such. Those have always been the rules. Etsy is now putting a blue text warning / advisory (blue banner on desktop, and a blue dot on mobile) on those messages they consider to be a "new message" but should semantically be called a "new thread".
You must reply to all messages or mark as spam. The star seller criteria clearly states that.
We get almost the same post almost every day. The rules have been the same from the start and clearly explained by Etsy. It might not seem right or fair, but that's just how it is.
No one on a forum can adjust a star rating, we are "just" other shops discussing the issues we have. You have to contact Etsy help but it will fall on deaf ears as @NanaLetha said "You must reply to all messages or mark as spam"
From the star seller info in shop manager:
"Your message response rate is based on just the first message in a conversation, not ongoing conversations. This means you just need to respond to the first message within 24 hours. This applies to messages both from buyer and seller accounts."
It's been this way for 18 months.
Yes my err, all first messages.
@GoldenTimesWatches that wasn't aimed at you! (:
When someone apologizes to me, I respond to them, thereby acknowledging their apology.
To not do so is not only Rude, but it goes against the rules for Star Sellers.
I highly recommend anyone that hasn't read the rules to read them before posting and asking Etsy to "fix" their standings. The rules are quite clear and fair, plus it doesn't hurt to know the rules if you are interested in becoming a Star Seller and receiving the badges.
Hi Hazel, slightly off topic but I don't think it's worth a new thread. I don't sell many items a month (3) but do get a high review rate(60%+) hence it only take one 4 star rating to lose the star review badge. My question is that besides the shop name there is also a star rating is that an average of all reviews or a rolling average over 12 months? I have looked but can not find the answer in help.
