Star Seller stats are 100% and I lost my badge

Jump to solution

Anyone else had their Star Seller badge removed for January with perfect stats (100/100/5.0/0)?  They say it's a widespread issue the engineering team is looking into and I'm just trying to gauge whether that's just a line, or if this really is an issue.  Customer service said they can't help other than "escalating the issue to the engineering team".

@NoontimeDesigns: "Is there a sales minimum that figures into the stats?" You must "Make at least 5 sales worth $300" (before shipping and taxes) during the three month review period as explained on https://www.etsy.com/starseller

did you do more than $300 in sales for oct/nov/dec?

you only have 2 reviews for that period, so I'm wondering about sales $

Just under.  Etsy did a random shut down of my shop during october/november (for no reason other than to "verify my identity"...never did get an answer as to what exactly they needed so I just submitted document after document until I guess they were satisfied) and didn't reopen it until first week of December I believe.  So my sales during that time are dismal.  But if the stats are still 100%, why would that affect it?

@NoontimeDesigns

star sellers are for stars

if you sell less then £300, it's not really enough to gauge if you are a star,

stats on small amounts, are never trusted, as a small thing can affect them greatly

it's not a new threshold, it's always been the same

I guess I missed the part where there is a sales minimum required for the badge.  Do you have a link to that information?

Is there a sales minimum that figures into the stats?

Thank you for the link.  Has this always been one of the requirements?  I guess I missed that one when Star Seller program first came out.

“Has this always been one of the requirements?“

@NoontimeDesigns

Unfortunately, yes. Which I think is total crap because we can’t help how many sales we make when search is so cluttered with non Etsy legal  garbage, not to mention search is basically broken. But anyway… Yes, $300 has always been a minimum. The sales minimum used to be 10 but they changed it 5 in the last year or so.

I also think it’s dumb that it’s before shipping costs, because some people do “free shipping” (adding the cost into the item) so they end up meeting that $300 requirement quicker than people who don’t include shipping in the cost of the item. Just one more way for Etsy  to push their agendas on sellers.

p.s. star sellers are for stars”

Ignore that. I’ve had many months where I wasn’t a star seller due to the minimum sales requirement and that doesn’t mean I (or my shop) was a loser. It just means that my customers weren’t finding me at that particular time.
