Star Seller issue I was told by customer service to post it in technical issues

First, I was told by Etsy customer service to post this issue here in technical issues so I would appreciate it if it was not immediately closed by mods. I have searched the forums and found similar issues and I feel it's important to post.

I received a message from a seller and tried to reply quickly on my smartphone, only to receive an error message that it could not be done. The error was via safari browser on Sept 15th, so I don't remember what the exact error wording was. In haste to reply, I was able to answer the seller's question by creating a new message. This is a technical issue. I was not allowed to reply the normal way. I wanted to, I tried to, but an Etsy-generated error message denied me the ability to do so. This is a technical issue.

Could tech add a field to the messaging system? The order number is already being auto-filled into the body of the message. Could the order number be auto-filled into a separate field instead of in the body of the email, then be identified by the messaging system as a reply/conversation concerning the same order? This keeps the message body separate from the order number. There is no need for someone to monitor message content, the system could auto-read the order number and group them.

I will start using the auto reply feature, and I marked the messages as spam, but I don’t think it serves the intent of the Star Seller program with regards to providing great customer service. Star Seller is problematic, I was not allowed to reply the way the SS program wants, due to a tech-generated error. I do 99% of my work on a computer and I was not savvy enough to remember hours later go back on my computer and reply again, which would have taken care of it. Please do not scold, it was not a "mistake" - I replied and that's really what's important. Please do not state something is clearly written in the terms and conditions. Now I am glaringly aware and I'm still posting because I believe it's an issue that can be and needs to be changed by Etsy. Thank you.

This is a forum of your peers, ie other sellers. I don't know why help tells you to post here because we really can't help you with the  issue you experienced. It may be that they think a moderator may see your post but there's no guarantee that would happen. I am sorry for that.

Etsy customer service tells you to post in technical issues so you go away and not bother them.  If enough people reply and are having the same problem, then they may actually believe it is something they should fix.  Whether they actually do anything about it is anybody's guess.

I was told to post my star seller issue in this forum as well. I was not awarded star seller for October because according to their calculations I shipped one day late on a holiday weekend! Can't ship if the post office is closed!

It's sad that they told you to post here.  Etsy has never taken holidays into consideration for shipping, leaving it up to the seller to adjust shipping times themselves to allow the extra time on holidays.

So, not an issue, just the way it's supposed to be.

Mark your calendar, next Monday the 10th is also a holiday, and any shipments due to go out then will be late if you don't get them out by Saturday or extend the ship by date past Monday.

Yes, some of these things can only be learned the hard way. I lost my message badge for not thinking abut something correctly LOL
