I believe this is a technical problem with the platform. When delivering a digital asset, there is no tracking number, however the star seller numbers go down based on not having a shipping tracking number.
Also, if you mistype the tracking number, there is no way to fix it more than 3 days out (usually after you discover the error) and it also effects the shipping numbers.
Many good sellers are getting dinged by these glitches.
P.S. it would be good if there was a way to reach someone regarding these issues. If the motto is "Keep Commerce Human", there should be a way to reach a human. Thank you.

Digital items that are created as a physical item will still require tracking or a shipping label purchased on Etsy because they are listed as a physical item. We encourage you to list them as digital items if they’re truly digital moving forward. Unfortunately, those past orders will be considered physical items that require on time shipping & tracking. Moving forward, once you list digital download items as digital they will not be counted towards your shipping stat in the Star Seller dashboard at all.
In regards with the option to edit the tracking number, as of the moment, sellers have 72-hours to edit the tracking number they've added. This is why, we strongly recommend making sure that the tracking numbers are correct before saving. But please know that we will take this as a feedback, and we will be sharing it with the team to consider for a future update. We take comments from the community to heart, and we make many changes to the site based on what we hear.
Lastly, you can definitely contact Etsy Support directly by accessing this link. You'll just need to select the appropriate topic from the options.

@CandiceArtShoppe: Did Etsy Support or the Help Pages send you here? This is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).
If a listing is set up as digital it will not count for or against Star Seller, if a listing is set up as a physical item it requires tracking (or an Etsy label) to be considered as shipped with tracking.
