I purchased a gift for a friend from a shop from my personal Etsy account (not my shop account). But because my two accounts are connected, my Etsy business shop received an auto generated message from the shop I’d purchased from after the product shipped. Since I knew who it was from and why they sent it, I didn’t respond right away. They aren’t my customer…I was their customer. However now my response rate plummeted because of this. To make matters more complicated, I’ve received two messages this month…one I responded right away because it was a potential customer…the other was the auto message from said shop…so my rate went from 100% to 50%.
Thanks for any feedback on whether this can be considered a technical issue and star seller status reinstated.
From the Dashboard/Star Seller page Star Seller | How it works and how to earn your badge (etsy.com) under Questions/Answers:
''What messages count towards the message response rate?
" from my personal Etsy account (not my shop account). But because my two accounts are connected...."
2 accounts are not connected, they are one single account.
Once you open a shop on a 'personal' account then that account becomes a business/shop account.
The only way to have a personal account is to create a whole new account without a shop attached.
@BusyBinsSensoryPlay: "... whether this can be considered a technical issue and star seller status reinstated." Unfortunately the answer is no. As it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to (or mark as SPAM) the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else.
The message was not auto-generated, it was deliberately sent to you, by the other person,
they may have a response that they cut and paste to buyers, but they do it deliberately.
you have to reply to each new message thread, or mark as spam - it's spam, mark it as such, and it will not be counted when etsy does the next calculation at the end of the month
....
accounts can be buyer only, or you can add a shop, and also be a seller, it's one account that does both things,
if you want a separate buyer account, you have to set up a separate account, with a different e-mail address, and leave it as a buyer only account, with no shop
It's automated so the bots have no idea who messages are from, they just see an unanswered one.
If it is recent, you can mark it as spam and your score might recalculate in a few days.
