I had an order that shipped late, which impacted my shops ability to reach Star Seller status last month.
However, the issue was not on my end. The customer ordered and paid for an item for which he requested a complete change of the design shown in my listing.
I attempted to contact him multiple times through ETSY's platform and also separately via email to discuss the design change and to provide mock-up options to choose from with no response. Since the notes for his order indicated he was gifting it and the changes requested was a complete change from the listing, I wanted to be sure my design ideas met his vision.
When I did not hear from him, I pushed back the ship date, which I could only do once.
After being unsuccessful at reaching him, I decided to create the item based on my understanding of his requests and what I thought looked best design wise. This was the only item that shipped late and I would like for this not to impact my shops status. Can this please be changed?
Unfortunately, this won't be eligible for adjusting the SS status. Late is late.
Were this to happen again, I would cancel the order and have the buyer reorder after you come to some design agreement during multiple messages, if necessary.
ETA, I also would not have created the item "based on my understanding". I would have canceled, refunded and waited until they replied, which they might not have done anyway.
The customer has ordered from me before and has always been very happy with his purchases.
If he wasn't a repeat customer, I likely would have canceled the order.
He has messaged me since receiving this order and he's happy with this one as well.
As for the lateness factor, I suppose it is what it is then.
Am glad it worked out for you with your customer.
This is the way it is. You can only push back a ship date once and star seller metrics will note anything that is late to ship.
I am surprised that you went ahead and created this without the buyer's input. What you could have done was cancel the order prior to the second ship date and let the buyer know they could repurchase with information on what they wanted. Has this arrived to the buyer or was it shipped directly to the giftee? My concern at this point is you could be looking at a not as described case since you created this based on what you thought best instead of waiting to be sure what the buyer wanted.
i have 12 that say they shipped late yet they didn't so when yours is late dont expect them to change it.
Got it.
I wasn't exactly going rogue with the design. He's a repeat customer, he gave a description of what he wanted in his order notes.
The design choices I made "without the buyers input" were primarily related to font styles.
He's reached out to me since receiving the item and he's happy with this one as well.
This is the first time I've ever had an item ship late, but oh well. Is what it is, I suppose.
