Hi there, last month I did become a star seller for the first time and worked hard all month to keep the status!
But on the first of November it went away, because it said my message rate wasn't high enough. But whenever I checked it was on 96%, on the 30th of October and on the first of November. It was strange all month because I was so quick with all my answers all month that I thought why it stayed on 96% and didn't go up to 100%?
But then on the first of November Etsy told me I wasn't a star seller anymore because of that message rate. I didn't see it going down?! I checked my message sheet and there is one message out of all messages which was 4 hours over the 24 hour line. One out of all messages. So I don't know how that made me go under 95%?
I'm puzzled and frustrated ... I already was in the help chat, who told me to come here and share my problem ...
There must be a technical fault somehow?
How many messages did you get during that timeframe?
One late answer will drop you below 95% if you haven't gotten at least 18 other messages during that period, and all of those need to have been answered on time.
I got 25, and one was answered after 28 hours ...
@thereyougrow: "One out of all messages. So I don't know how that made me go under 95%?" Simple math : number of new incoming Message threads answered within 24 hours divided by total number of new incoming Message threads. Etsy truncates so 94.99% is 94% not 95%.
Hi there, thanks for the message! Just calculated. I had 25 new messages, 24 I answered within 24 hours, my math says 96% ... ? The exact percentage it said before the first of November, and on the first of November ...
Also remember the last two days of the month do no count for the next month. So anything that came in Oct 30 and 31 does not count for November but will for December.
And one message expecially if you don' t get many can sink the metrics. I know if I miss one, I'm sunk as I don't get many at all.
And chat sends people here when they cannot help. Etsy won't change star seller metrics,
I know! My list messages stats list ends on the 26th of October. Until then I had 25 new messages and one of them answered after 24 hours. Which makes 96% ...
Makes one just frustrated ... sigh
But thanks for your reply!
etsy counts 48 hours, because of the service standard, and they use UTC - as everyone is calculated from the same baseline.
all messages are counted, but can be offset for 2-3 days, depending how your timeframe relates to UTC.
messages at the end Jul will be included in the current star seller stats displayed now, and the ones at the very end October will not be included until the December calculation
Hi there, what does that mean in my current situation? That there are messages counted for this November which are not in my stat sheet?
in the star seller stats
the default is - CURRENT review period, that is what you are working towards for December
what is displayed in your shop, is the calculation done on 1st November - you have to click on - "PREVIOUS review period" to see those.
....
as you are in wisconsin, then midnight UTC, is 7,00pm your time
I had an issue this week where I mistakenly put a SIX in the tracking number instead of an Eight on a multi two purchase order that I combined, and had posted, but it was showing pre transit, so i had TWO Pre Transit messages that had caused me to be 91% of my sending on time rate. I contacted etsy and Dino told me I could change my tracking number within three days and it would be sorted out. I changed the same tracking number for the two combined purchases and only one said Item sent and the other Pre Transit, but my score had gone to 96% but No Star Seller !!. I contacted etsy again yesterday and they have now made both items as sent, and I am back now as normal, to 5 star rave reviews, 100% Sending on time . 100% replying to messages but still no Star Seller. I try so hard to be the best possible, but is it worth it for all this hassle ?
Something else I have noticed is that if I send with the shipper Happy-post, it says tracking not available, so how dose this count against my sending out score when etsy does not regognize that shipper ?? It is getting too cut throat and not enjoyable now as a seller to be hit so hard over such trivia. I know buyers want good service, but to be put down for simple mistakes, and it was already posted quickly
@FrenchAntiquity: "... but still no Star Seller ..." Star Seller is calculated only on the first of the month using the data at the time of calculation. Changes made to the data (and stats updates) will not affect Star Seller badges and stars retroactively.
I sent my two last orders with Mondial Relay, one to Germany and one to France. Both showing pre-transit despite being shipped days before the ship-by date with tracking and now my shipping on time gone from 100% to 94%. Etsy wants us to offer lower shipping rates, but their shipping tracker doesn't recognise many major transporters.
