Why does the star seller message requirements include messages that we send ourselves? For example, I have two friends who purchased items from me who never reached out to me about them, but I messaged them later to thank them for supporting my shop. Those two messages were included as not responding within 24 hours. Does anyone know if Etsy has plans to fix this issue?

Here's your problem. We have to respond to ALL message threads. Mark those as spam.
You only have to answer messages that come in as a new thread. There has to be an incoming message that you've missed. Your messages to others don't need to be answered by you. How could they be?
No, I am a new shop. Only one person has messaged me first for help. The other two I reached out to first, so I guess it's a mess up on Etsy's end.

I am not sure what you're asking here. I'm a new shop. All I know is I've only received one message from someone else initiating the conversation first who needed help, and I responded to him with in the 24 hour period. The other two I reached out to by myself, but I somehow only have a 33% response time rate with responding in the first 24 hours. I only have a total of 5 messages, the other two being from different shops offering me coupons/discounts.
I found the file. Turns out the other two were from other shops thanking me. Thank you!
That doesn't sound right. Since you were the initiator of those Messages (thanking them for purchasing), you should not be graded on responding. You started the Message.

Yes, you are right! I found the CVS file @BagmakerSupply was talking about, and it was the other two shops reaching out to me that were included. Good to know. Thank you!
