Hi! I'm starting to sell here on Etsy and I've noticed that my 'Star Seller' score is being affected by a message that I didn't reply.
This message was coming from a highly suspicious account and, at the moment, I felt that deleting the message was the way to proceed. I did this from the mobile App while on the go, so I didn't see the "spam" option there.
I've reached the Help Center but they were not able to help and redirected me to this Etsy Community Tech-Issues threads.
How should we proceed with fake accounts and messages that are suspicious? Will these keep affecting the score? Should I reply to them and after them send them to deletion/spam?
Is it possible to revert my score? For me is really important to keep this right if I want to grow my store.
Thanks!
go to your recycling bin, you can still mark it as spam, and in a couple of days it will drop off your score
What's done is done, Etsy won't adjust the score.
In future marking as spam is sufficient. They don't count towards your response rate. This help center page explains more about how messages affect star seller: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller-?segment=selling
Hi! thanks @givemeacrown for the fast reply!
This is what's written in that link you refer to:
Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum.
So this is why I'm writing this here (Tech Issues forum).
Hopefully someone from Etsy could really check this one? Or this is not going to happen?
Thanks again
@LuzWatercolors I'm just another seller but I think they say that so that Etsy Support can monitor the kinds of questions and comments people make about Star Seller.
I don't think it's so that they will make any adjustments. I don't think I've seen anyone in the forums mention having had their Star Seller score re-calculated since the system was created.
I'm sorry, I realise that's not what you want to hear, but try and mark future messages like that as spam and each month your score will be recalculated.
And many other sellers say that whether you have it or not is not that relevant. Focus on building your shop, promote yourself outside of Etsy, and the people who buy from you won't be looking for whether you're a Star Seller or not.
I see @givemeacrown I'm quite new here so your quick reply helps a lot. Thank you!
I'll leave this question open so hopefully Etsy can monitor it or improve the experience on this topic. (Maybe adding the "spam" feature on the App could help)
I'll keep focusing on my shop. I've just heard some buyers just filter by 'top-sellers'. But maybe it's not that relevant after all.
Thanks again!
they do adjust the count if a message is marked as spam
@AnnaleasFinest Aah okay, I didn't know that, thanks! I guess it's not Etsy Support adjusting, but the system is designed to do that : ) That will be my excuse for my poor answer anyway.

@CraftyCornishMaids thanks!
I did that so I'll check in a couple of days. Thank you so much
This worked!
"I felt that deleting the message was the way to proceed."
No. Please read up on what counts in your starseller dashboard.
It says that you either reply or mark it as spam, or it will count against you.
For this one, go to this message and mark it as spam, it should update over night.
Sad Etsy sends you here verses actually helping you! Good luck with ETsy.
