Etsy has said numerous times that they will not, under any circumstances, "Fix" an error in the star seller program--no matter who is at fault. (I.E., seller, buyer, USPS, Etsy, etc)
When Etsy had a USPS tracking glitch months ago they did go in and change stats for Star Seller. It's worth reaching out to support because otherwise you are ruined for 3 months. Have your tracking numbers ready and available.
I have the same problem with Australia Post Registered letters. I didn't realise for the 1st time that Etsy doesn't recognise the number and amended it to Fedex! If you go into your shipped orders within a couple of days you can amend it to Aust Post.
@ArtByBossa: I suspect that Etsy's position will be that since you have 72 hours from the time you mark the order as complete to check and correct any shipping company and tracking number mistakes the responsibility for any errors is yours.
I wouldn't worry about star seller,
if those people open cases, and the bots don't recognise the tracking, they get refunds in full.
I'd spend a bit more time checking in future, if this is happening to you.
Etsy is very slow in ever fixing things like this, if they ever do - take control yourself, check them
