Star Seller Calculation Mistake

Jump to solution

My order without tracking says July 31st, as that was when it was shipped. This month's Star Seller report is from August 1st to October 31st. My order for July is being counted as an August order, i'm being told because the system had already turned over to August when it was marked as completed? It doesn't seem fair to have a shipped July order counted against me for a period that is supposed to start August 1st, but I guess it is what it is

Hi there!

We determine what orders are included in the On-time shipping calculation by the order’s Ship By Date in UTC, not in the order date itself. However, we display all dates in the CSV breakdown in the seller’s timezone. So your order for July 31st has ship by date August 1st and above in UTC, it is counted on the shipping score as August order.

Thanks!

It might be a time zone difference, depending on which time zone they take to determine their cut-off time. Or they are a little slow on marking things shipped in their systems.

Etsy is on Eastern time zone, so everything is calculated based upon their HQ location … and the cutoff is usually 3 business days before actual last day of month!

@KiwiSunshineDesigns: First, you have entered the dreaded time zone trap. It seems that Etsy uses UTC for most things, but many "reports" are based on your time zone. September 30 to you may be October 1 to Etsy. Secondly, looking at other posts in this forum it seems that the last few days of a month routinely get rolled into the next month when doing Star Seller calculations - for example it appears that a message never counts until after the 24 hour response window has closed. Our experience is that a day or two after the package has been scanned the CSV file and order correctly show tracking and shipment status.

Etsy uses universal time for the star seller I believe.  That is why it stops at the last day or two before the 1st.  The item you see as July 31st May actually be August 1st with UTC time.
