I brought from Mechille not her from me and she took six days to get back to me,,, this I belive was counted back on me!! un fair I think..Glendagail
Are you complaining about potentially losing your Star because you didn’t answer or spam a message from another seller?
ALL new incoming messages, whether from a buyer or seller, MUST be either replied to or marked as spam within 24 hours. NO exceptions.
Re-read the rules if the Star award is important to you.
@glendagail: "... this I belive was counted back on me ..." First, you need to check the applicable CSV file available on your Star Seller page to confirm which message(s) Etsy thinks were answered late or not answered at all. When you look at the file remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone), only the first message of a new incoming thread is included (all that counts for Star Seller), and usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied. Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) seem to be updated only once per day so there may be an additional day's delay. There is also a link to the actual message thread so you can verify if the data is correct or not. Keep in mind that the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads.
"... un fair I think ..." Perhaps, but as it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such.
A controversial workaround : if the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two (but not retroactively) if the original message was within the current star seller period. Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
As suggested above, you may want to reread the Star Seller rules so you are not surprised by something else.
Read up on star seller rules found on your dashboard.. it is not about who answers you whenever they do-- it is about YOU responding to the first message in a thread. So this other person could take 10 years to get back to your message and it would not affect your star rating-- it might affect hers but not yours.
PS- You only have rave reviews-- you would not have missed the star review for just missing a message reply-- there are other qualifications that you have to meet-- you don't have those either.
