My Star Report showed I had 3 messages but only showed I responded to 2 of them (which was done within minutes). The third one was for a company that I ordered something "from" so I didn't reply because it was NOT a buyer of mine but someone that was wanting me to purchase something from them. THIS WAS NOT A MESSAGE FROM ONE OF "MY BUYERS". So my Star Report should show 100% response rate for answering messages from my buyers. Here's a copy of the shop that said I didn't respond back. THEY DID NOT ORDER FROM ME!

Questions? We’ve got answers. -> Messages -> What messages count towards the message response rate?
Your message response rate is based on just the first message in a conversation, not ongoing conversations. This means you just need to respond to the first message within 24 hours. This applies to messages both from buyer and seller accounts. Messages from Etsy staff do not count toward your response rate, and neither do messages that you mark as spam. You can also now find a breakdown of your message response rate score by downloading a CSV.
ALL messages need to be either answered or spammed.
I really wish we had a Forums "Spam" button for issues that have been discussed, at length, for over 12 months. Either that, or an automatic redirect to past discussions / Threads. Perhaps, even something like the compulsory "Help Request" obligation (to contact the seller before raising a Case) which requires people to read the TOUs and then digest the information for 48 hours before starting Threads? Now, "Wouldn't that be loverley?"
@CarpetCollectionAU Totally agree with you. I‘m just dreading after the first of the month when the forum literally gets swamped again with the same complaints. I always try to stay away so I don’t even see it.

The bots are not able to read, they just see that there is a message, it is ridiculous but we MUST answer all messages !
Etsy says: Reply to all initial messages,
the system doesn't distinguish between
-message from seller, and
-message from buyer.
So all you can do now is mark it as spam, but Etsy told me they control this and don't like to see the function being abused, so better watch out and reply on time in the future, rather than marking something as spam which isn't.
You can also see a blue banner if a message requires a 24 hours reply, and a light blue banner once you've accomplished it.
@AnnaleasFinest Yes, gotta love the light blue banner where Etsy tells us that we are well behaved children and what a good job we are doing. Lol.
ja, irgendwie muß man es den Leuten ja beibringen, und Lob ist doch immer schön, ne? ☻
Positive Verstärkung!
