Spam messages moved to Inbox continue to effect Star Seller Status...

If you haven't replied to them in the 24 hour time frame, even though it was promised back in May to be fixed.

Per Etsy Email (Which went to multiple people so not confidential / private message...and it's important to note, Etsy said they fixed it!)

"Moving forward, messages marked as spam by Etsy will not impact your Star Seller eligibility. If Etsy has marked a message as spam that you subsequently move out of the folder, that also will not impact your Star Seller eligibility."

Please get this fixed. These were legit messages in my Spam folder, and I will no longer be even looking at Spam if you can't fix what you promised.

(My former thread on this issue was removed, so purging of old issues happens)

It happened to me, too, and I asked to escalate this in the chat but had no luck. This is not fair.

Re: Spam messages moved to Inbox continue to effect Star Seller Status...

I'm receiving about 2 or 3 spam messages every day, and they're all the same thing... saying my account is blocked, asking me to click a link to fix it, enter my credentials, etc. Obviously, I don't do anything with them, but it's really frustrating! What can I do?

All you can do is be sure to mark them as spam. Eventually they will stop.

Re: Spam messages moved to Inbox continue to effect Star Seller Status...

I am also experiencing this issue.  After having a Star Seller badge since I first became eligible, I lost it after moving a legitimate message to my inbox that Etsy had marked as spam.  This is annoying, but I wasn't too concerned about it before, since Etsy had said that Star Seller doesn't directly affect search rankings.  But today, they have changed their policy so that it does, and I believe this explains why my shop has had a dearth of orders for the past couple of weeks.  I now check my spam folder every day to ensure this doesn't happen again, but in the mean time my message response rate is sitting at 67% (well below Etsy's new "standard" customer service criteria, let alone their "Star Seller" level), and likely will continue to do so until that message is dropped from the review period.

I second the motion: Etsy, please get this fixed.

@CopperKeep: In the interim, have you tried moving the Message back into the SPAM folder? Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) seem to be updated only once per day so there may be  delay before the results are known.

@BagmakerSupply  It just occurred to me to try that (after a fruitless chat with Etsy support, as expected).  I have now re-marked the message as spam (the conversation was concluded more than a month ago), and I'll post an update in a day or two if that does the trick.  Good suggestion - I certainly hope it works!

@BagmakerSupply Success!  After moving the offending message back into my spam folder, the next day my message response rate was back up to 100%, and today (the first of the month) my Star Seller badge was reinstated.  So, if you see that you have a legitimate message in your spam folder, just pull it out and respond, then re-mark it as spam, and it won't count against your message response rate.  It's "an ingenious solution to a problem that should never have existed in the first place".

Same for my shop.  Still had 2 messages dumped to spam after the issue back in May.  Moved them to the inbox, dealt with each message and my message response rate dropped to 91%.  I chatted with Etsy 2 times.  They could see the issue and said it would be fixed.  Still not fixed after 2 chats.  This is the 1st month I didn't qualify for the message response badge.  Totally due to issues with Etsy.

IMHO star seller is a waste of time. I'm a small hobby seller and don't always make $300. WHY am I dinged because I don't make Etsy a tons of $$?? My badges never show on my page anyway and the link to share my star seller status never shows up in my shop manager even when I do get it.

I notice an increase in sales when I am Star Seller, and this has effected sales since July.

Two conflicting messages in one email from ETSY ZENDESK support

Also, if Etsy has marked a message as spam that you subsequently move out of the folder, that will not impact your Star Seller eligibility. That said, we’re actively looking into reports of spam messages impacting Star Seller status or eligibility.

#2
Moving forward, if you received a message that has been automatically moved to spam and decided to move it out to inbox, you'll be needing to respond within 24 hours from the moment you received it.
