Had a message which I added to recycle bin as was a spam message apparently from Etsy (ongoing issue with these site wide by the looks) and it has impacted my message response rate which has dropped from always being 100% to 86%
can Etsy sort this to reinstate?
You should mark as spam
Did you mark it as spam? If you didn’t it will count as a non-reply.
@SewEmCrafts: "... message which I added to recycle bin ..." Deleting a message does not count for Star Seller. The Star Seller metric for messages is very simplistic and binary - either you replied to (or marked as SPAM) that first message of a new incoming thread within 24 hours or you did not.
A controversial workaround : if the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two (but not retroactively) if the original message was within the current star seller period. Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
Unless something has changed recently, you can only mark a message as SPAM using the buyer app or a browser, the option is not available in the seller app.
"can Etsy sort this to reinstate?" Just so you know, even if Etsy Support or the Help Pages sent you here this is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).
You have to actually mark it as spam, not just put it in the recycle bin. Etsy has no way of knowing something you placed in the recycle bin is actually spam. Discarded messages still count. If it is spam, mark it as spam (you may need to use a browser as the Add to Spam option doesn't show on the app). If it is not spam, don't just discard it, answer it. If you set up some quick replies in snippets, it will take you no more time to reply than it takes to bin it.
