Spam Messages Issue Needs Immediate Fix

We’re aware that many sellers are facing this issue, but we’re adding our voice here in the hope that Etsy takes immediate action to resolve this glitch before it drives sellers away!

We’re experiencing a major problem where customers are reporting that our messages aren’t reaching them—likely being flagged as spam automatically by Etsy. To make matters worse, customers using the Etsy app can’t even access their spam folders to check, as the spam folder only exists on the desktop version of Etsy!

This has caused significant confusion and frustration for both sellers and buyers. Reliable communication is essential to our business operations. We often need to quote customers and have detailed discussions before they place orders. This glitch is making it nearly impossible to manage sales effectively.

If this continues, it WILL result in a significant loss of business and customer trust.

Etsy, please investigate and resolve this issue as a priority. While we understand the need to protect buyers and sellers from scams, these measures have gone too far and are now actively harming sales and relationships with our customers.

You need to contact Etsy support directly.  This is a sellers' forum and there is nothing we can do to help you with your issue.  From what I have read on the forums, the Etsy App doesn't show you all the information about a listing, etc., as a desktop does.

In the meantime, it might be best to have your prospective buyer's personal email to help you with your communications.

We've done that already, they've just said they will "pass it on to the team".

There doesn't seem to be an actual solution coming. Just hoping the more voices that shout about this issue, the more they might pay attention and actually try to solve it.

@FeelGoodInvites

The forums is the place to discuss this and YES it’s a big problem that appears to be ignored. The more people affected, the more likely a fix will happen. Thanks for your efforts.

Re: Spam Messages Issue Needs Immediate Fix

In the one instance where I would prefer a message go to spam they actually did, 3 others were not. I have a no offers policy, had to specifically sign up for it here, it's also in my policies, not that anyone reads them, and yet I'm still having to answer convos from people making offers sometimes as much as 60% off. I have a saved response that spells out why I don't entertain offers so it's an easy enough thing to click when I get them. With all the AI that seems to pick up every word that is Verboten you'd think it could also recognize offers, those would be fine going to spam, save me the trouble of having to respond to keep my useless star badge. There is a note above my monitor that says "Check Spam" now so I can add that to the myriad other things I have to deal with as it relates to running a bloated shop. Sure, I sell, but I'm looking forward to pulling back in 2025, it's just a lot of work.

Re: Spam Messages Issue Needs Immediate Fix

Etsy, we respectfully request your immediate attention to the following matter.

We, along with many other sellers, are experiencing a significant issue that requires prompt resolution to prevent further complications.

Customers have reported that our messages are not reaching them, likely due to being automatically flagged as spam by Etsy. Additionally, users of the Etsy app are unable to access their spam folders, as this feature is only available on the desktop version of the site.

This situation is causing a breakdown in communication, which is vital for conducting business. We need to communicate with buyers to clarify details and provide quotes before they finalize purchases. This glitch is making it impossible to manage sales efficiently.

If this problem persists, we will see a loss in revenue and customer confidence.

Etsy, we urge you to prioritize this issue and resolve it promptly. While we understand the importance of preventing scams, the current system is harming legitimate businesses and undermining the user experience.
