For the past few weeks when I try to update the shipping date I've encountered a number of false info. It is a total mess to say the least as I was trying to update at least 10 orders that were being shipped out 8 days in advance and none of them gave the correct information
Usually when updating it gives you the original expected delivery dates but not anymore. I have just tried updating quite a number of orders to reflect that I am dispatching sooner, today was by 8 days to be precise. On some orders it did give new expected dates while showing that the original dates had been replaced by the new expected date, which is wrong as those weren't the original dates! You see on every order I receive I copy and paste the Dispatch by date and Buyer expected delivery dates in my personal notes, so I know for a fact that what is now showing up when I do an update that the dates are incorrect. So that is one issue, but here is another, still shipping 8 days before schedule ,on some orders it didn't show the original expected delivery original at all and it didn't show any new expected delivery dates between X and X date, it just showed : expected delivery being TODAY ??? now how could that be since I didn't even mark them as complete with tracking number I was just trying to inform my buyers. While other orders showed, again no more original date of expected delivery and giving an update of delivery for 2 days from now. Someone needs to look into this, like what is the point of updating info for buyers if all it does is send wrong information
Whenever shipping early, I do not update the ship by date and I'm not sure why it would be necessary. Etsy emails buyers when an order is marked shipped. I only use it to notify a buyer and give me more time when shipping later than the original processing time. Etsy also adjusts the expected delivery date as soon as an order is shipped.
I know how things work, I've been selling since 2014
By updating do you mean you are shipping early and trying to reflect that on your orders page? If so, there is no need to do that. Etsy will show the actual date shipped.
The only time you need to change the shipping date is if you are shipping LATER than stated. Then you can push out the date up to 3 weeks. However, if you are shipping EARLY, there is no need to change anything. The shipping notice sent by Etsy will suffice.
I like to keep my buyers informed and I've been doing this for years and never had a problem, until 2 weeks ago, and would very much like the tech department to look into this
@MoldCreationsNmore — maybe Etsy doesn’t want you to do that anymore? Buyers are already complaining about the excessive amount of notifications they get from Etsy!
Yes, things have changed recently and unless one is always checking the forum, it is hard to keep up.
This is all new: Etsy sends shipping notifications with updated delivery times when the label is purchased, then notifications when the item is picked up or dropped off at the carrier, then when it arrives in the buyer's state, then when it's out for delivery, then 'Ding Dong' when it is at the door.
As a buyer, I find it a bit much.
Now, if there is an issue that also affects extending the ship-by date, I may be in trouble. So far, I haven't seen that yet though (fingers crossed).
