Shopping cart check out change, potential for accidental purchases

Today I made a purchase from an Etsy shop.

I had items from another shop in my cart that I was not intending to purchase at this time.

When I went to checkout, the option to "Check out from this shop only" had disappeared.  I could only check out with all items in my cart from several different stores.

I was shopping from my phone, so I switched to desktop mode to see if the option was available.  It still did not allow me to check out from only one shop.

I rotated my phone from portrait to landscape view.

The "check out from only this shop" option appeared in this view (desktop mode, landscape view).  The option was TINY and tucked in the far left corner.

I switched from desktop mode to my phone browser, landscape view, and the option disappeared again.

I assume this is a test, so hopefully it will go away.

However, in the meantime, if you have a customer contact you to say "I accidentally purchased from you" it is probably legit.

This test makes it very difficult to purchase from just one shop, and very easy to buy your entire cart, even if it was not your intention.

Give your customers the benefit of the doubt if they contact you about an accidental purchase.

eek - when customers can't find the 'checkout from this shop only' it will limit using carts which will probably negatively impact purchases. It also has the potential to create a mess when customers try to cancel accidental orders. eek eek eek.

I hope you're right that this is a test.

I couldn't find it for the particular shop I wanted to purchase from, so I had to delete the other shops from my cart in order to check out. So it's likely I won't buy those items now. That can't be the outcome that Etsy had in mind.

Many things on Etsy are only viewable on mobile devices while in "desktop landscape mode" ... the auto reply message is this way and can only be changed/updated while in this "view".  It's nothing new or test, per se, it's just how it is now... one of the many differences between mobile & desktop views.

This is definitely a new change.

I have always been able to check out from only one shop on my mobile device, whether in landscape or portrait view.

Interesting.  I'm on my phone now, and added a few items to cart.  I don't usually shop on my phone, but couldn't get it to go into landscape mode on the Buyer app.  I can in the Forums.  Saw no option to check out from just one shop.
