Shop suspended - Tax ID

literally posting this in case it gets seen by etsy and they can maybe get me unsuspended.

But same issue as a lot of you. brand new shop, been suspended for about a month because they have not checked my tax ID info. I was so excited! have 37 listings which I think people would enjoy. still getting the message that says check back in one hour. lol it's been one LOOOOOONG hour I must say. pretty crazy that this Is a thing. should be a top priority to get it fixed. I feel for you guys who are also going through this and especially those who are LOSING monies.

Etsy probably needs your ID as well as tax information?  What did the email say?

If you got a response email back, did you reply to the email with I still need help, need updated information?

Have you checked to see that all information matches anything you put in?  Name on SSN?  Name on bank account?  Name on EIN, LLC if you have one?  Did you verify through Plaid?

Etsy does not come here.  It will not help.

You need to reply to the email received if you contacted Etsy.  If the ticket was closed, try again.  

While waiting you might want to finish your shop.  About page and shop policies.  POD, etc.

I appreciate you reaching out. yea friend everything is correct. ID verified and all tax info is correct.. Still no luck. I've gotten the same generic email that many others have in this position. where it says they are aware of this problem and don't know when it will be fixed. 

and well, at the least the more people who come here posting about this issue maybe they will take it more seriously.

Same thing has happened to me as of May 2, 2023. I had tried updating info starting back in February and it would not let me enter it. Did chat with Help Center and was told to keep trying and I would get an email when the issue was fixed. I specifically asked what would happen if I met the earnings threshold and was told it would not be a problem since they are aware of the problem. I kept trying and never let me enter it and never received an email. So Tuesday got an order that took me over the threshold and immediately after the order was received my shop was suspended. I could still process the order and Etsy did pay me for it. I immediately went to update tax info and it did let me enter it and upload docs then I got the check back in 1 hour message because they were verifying the info. 2 1/2 hours later still the same. Did chat again and they are aware of the problem and the technical team is working on fixing the problem, you will get an email when fixed. Here we are 2 days later and nothing has changed. Going to do chat again I guess. Does anyone have any info to help with this?

You’re going to be waiting for a long time. I’m currently on week 3. They said they don’t know when things will be fixed but it is a glitch as far as they know.

I am having the same issues with the tax ID verification. I am new to Esty and just started my shop up. I have not even had the chance to sell anything yet because it says that my account is suspended and I must provide a valid taxpayer ID to continue. I entered everything correctly and when I reached out to support, they even said it is all correct but they are having tech difficulties and they are not sure when it will be fixed. I have received no emails and I chatted with them yesterday. My accound has been suspended for like two weeks now

I'm in the same boat! All my tax information is correct but my account is suspended.. It's been over 2 weeks for me! It's been beyond frustrating trying to get any help or anyone to assist me! Has anyone's shop been re-opened? Or is everyone still waiting?

So glad your shop was opened back up! I am still waiting unfortunately...it's been over 3 weeks at this point. Does anyone know how long it takes to open back up? They told me its a glitch and they are figuring out how to fix it.

I’m in the same boat as you! Over a month and still waiting for their “technical team” to finish “working on it”. Honestly insane that they charged us for our listings too even though we never even got to have stores!

@BeccaMatin   Take one email from Etsy and reply back that you still need help and are waiting on an update.

Your shop is incomplete so it is possible Etsy has done what is needed but your shop doesn't reflect it.

Not knowing where you are located can't help further.

If this is tax make sure all forms of name on bank account, tax and ID match.

Yeah I am still waiting... a month later lol. I am tempted to delete my shop and start new. I'm not getting answers and nothing has changed. They are still charging me for my listings too! It's ridiculous

if you open a new shop, that sells the same as this, even if you close this shop, etsy will close the new one.

Without your location is is hard to say,  Are you in the US?  If so does your SSN information match your bank account name.  Did you mark sole proprietor.  If you have an LLC, IRS still considers you a sole proprietor.

IF you have an email, take that email and respond back that you would like more information and when you can expect this to be resolved.
