My shop has somehow gone,
Someone logged into my account from Ohio, USA
I changed my password - and asked etsy what format my mobile phone number should be for 2 step authentication
they thought about it for a couple of days, and have come back and said to reset my password again, which I have done, and everything was fine until about an hour ago
then I have an e-mail saying
An Etsy admin has unlinked the bank account connected to your Etsy shop, CraftyCornishMaids.
so I tried to go back in, to re-authorise, and I get the "uh oh", so basically, I don't exist
it looks like I am a buyer only account, my shop has gone
not sure even how long I can post in the forums.
I have replied to the "unlinked bank account" e-maail,
but any suggestions are welcome
@cindylouwho2 or @FancyTogs or @Spellbinderie not sure if you have anyideas
... edited to add, I "was" CraftyCornishMaids" - I seem to be now just a username
A cautious thumbs-up? Keep us posted x
I hope with a bit more time it is sorted out for you.
In the past week or so someone else in the forums posted that there was an issue with their shop, they contacted Etsy Support, their shop disappeared for a day or so before it all came back to life again.
Unfortunately I don't have the link to that thread and can't remember a useful keyword to find it but maybe someone else remembers it?
@CraftyCornishMaids Something is still wonky. When I look at Forum Notifications I see your Thread with the Title :Re: Shop gone for me - etsy seems to have got rid ..."
But when I look at your Thumbs Up Notification the Thread Title is "W"
Both lead to the same Thread????
Although you, on the surface, are now just a "Buyer" all of yoyr previous Forum Posts are under the Buyer Account hdthomas1 and any references to CraftyCornishMaids have now changed to hdthomas1
Personally, I believe more than one Etsy Rep has a finger in this pie, hence the very strange actions which are occurring.
My shop is not back, | still get the Uh Oh, a stitch has gone awry
by account has reverted to a buyer account .... but somehow I can still post here
..... just going out to walk the dog on the beach - not sure anything will happen anytime soon
@CraftyCornishMaids Heather, although the Etsy Rep advised "I have now fully reinstated your account." we can all see that this is clearly not the case. That is why I pointed out the strange Forum actions as well. User ID and not Shop Name is weird. Changing all previous Forum Posts to User ID is even weirder and changing the Title of this Thread when you reply to some people to "W" is beyond weird
Edited because I have just received another Forum Notification with the "W" Title not the Title associated with this Thread.
And... You get the "stitch has gone awry" message, not the "Opps" message. But there is still not a Shop (that we can see) attached to the hdthomas1 User ID.
So sorry this has happened to you. I recognised your lovely profile image straight away, just horrid.
@CraftyCornishMaids My word what a nightmare!! So sorry you are going through this Heather. It makes one very nervous about implementing any changes. I hope it gets sorted today.
I am so sorry this has happened to you and it is quite scary how it all happened. Reading through the whole thread, it appears that Etsy has not reinstated your shop, even though they said they have. I hope that is rectified quickly. You have been very helpful to me and countless others on the forum.
@CraftyCornishMaids I am so sorry and deeply saddened to hear of this happening to you Heather, since Etsy are aware I won't need to escalate the issue for you but I will be following very closely to see what the out come will be, It's just as well you noticed yourself and were on to it straight away otherwise the whole account could have been compromised, try not to stress out about it, it will get sorted although no one needs to be dealing with this kind of unnecessary S**t.
Etsy Lurkers - Etsy you need to get your S**t together, seriously, you've been told, A, Site security, B, Payment processor(s) sort it out!
Hacker Lurkers - Polite response - Rob from the rich not the poor!
SO sorry this has happened to you - hope it is resolved soon.
I'm sure there isn't any way to protect ourselves from errors like this but saw someone say they would download their listings to save them? How could you do that?
Oh! Cancel that, I've found it under settings. Apparantly you can download a CVC (whatever that is) for all listings.
Which probably isn't any help if they've taken your shop away......sending you all best wishes.
@CraftyCornishMaids keeping everything crossed that this gets sorted for you soon , sending a virtual hug your way , if there is anything I can do to help give me a shout x
Ho Hum, back from my dog walk, and nothing more - not that I expected anything yet
It was a lovely walk along the beach to Seaton, had a mug of tea and scrambled eggs on toast, at the beach cafe, and walked back
sunny with high cloud, lovely day, fairly calm sea - and a wet dog!
So sorry your going through this Crafty what a nightmare.
Your morning walk sounds idyllic, I am originally from Weymouth, Dorset and although I didn't appreciate it when I was there I miss the beach now, SIL lived in Kingsand, Cornwall but have just moved, use to love visiting there too, gutted they moved, they got fed up with the village and holiday makers swamping the village and taking over.
Hope things get sorted out for you soon.
Weymouth is lovely,
I always miss the sea when I am away from it.
Kingsand and Cawsand are over 50% holiday lets now, especially in the centre, it's a shame, as it's really lovely (apart from the easterly storms in the winter)
When I was younger I lived in Plymouth, and used to take the boat over from the barbican.
Where I live now is about halfway between Kingsand and Looe, we have more holiday lets than we used to, but it's under 15%, and our local primary school is oversubscribed, so we do have a lot of local families and children .... and we are one of the few dog friendly beaches.
Things here will get sorted, or they won't, I am hopeful they will .... eventually but this is a bit of an odd bug,
...and I'm still puzzled by the tag - Community Curator
Oh good grief, this is awful!
I know experienced sellers repeatedly advise not relying on Etsy as a sole source of online selling, and this is an obvious example of why we should follow that advice, but the point is we shouldn’t need to.
Etsy should be stable and secure. There should be a way for both sellers and buyers to communicate with a human when technical or financial issues arise. That one group has more ready access to telephone support is frankly appalling.
I don’t understand why Etsy seems to have such a cavalier attitude to sellers’ accounts. Without sellers Etsy has no income. Disappearing sellers who are in good standing with both customers and Etsy really isn’t a good look and is likely to make customers wary of buying on the platform.
No sellers + no buyers = No Etsy.
I hope this is resolved for you soon, and I hope Etsy takes notice of what has occurred and makes sure it can never happen again.
basically, they are confused, as The e-mail I had, after I went to bed says
I have now fully reinstated your shop account.
hmmmm, I have my account, but not my shop
Hi Heather,
I'm very sorry to see this, and for the frustration and worry caused. I've escalated this matter to an account specialist, who will be in touch directly and will help with reopening the shop. As this will be addressed with you directly, I'll close up this thread with my best wishes. Thanks to all of you who offered help and assistance!
