Shop by Location filter not working

I was just trying to shop for some custom vinyl decals, and I wanted to filter them to within my zip code.  I found out that the "filter by location" field isn't working.  I saw a post about this from a few months ago, but it is still broken.

Did you use Coram, NY, United States.  If you start typing in the box, it shows place names.  You have to select the place name as it is listed there.  It won't search anything other than the format of the place names in the filter,

also, etsy only filters shop location

That "kinder to the planet" shipping is a thorn in my side. I wanted to order something yesterday. The shop indicated it was in Texas. Come to find out, it would be shipped from China. It wouldn't arrive in 2 days (like it would if it WAS shipping from Texas!) So, why does Etsy have that carbon footprint hindering our shops. A good majority of shops involve excessive shipping distances, and NOT kinder to the planet. I'm not even sure if the item ships directly to me or to Texas first, and then to me. If we are indeed localized by Etsy, it's not a fair deal for all shops.

etsy has always gone on the shop location,

not where it ships from.

when they first started having the filter here to be able to filter by country, there were masses and masses of threads here about it

but nothing has changed in all those years, it still works the same way it always has

If the "ships from" location is China, and it does ship from Texas, you can open a NAD

Ah, so then it is a precision thing (only exactly from where something ships from, as opposed to nearby or within X miles), and I have to type a town, not a zip code...

This filter still seems to be broken. I choose to filter only united states as the location and still got shops from other countries. Etsy needs to fix their issues.

the filter is where the shop is

not where they ship from,

a lot of pod shops will ship from many places,

basically, the location, top left, which is what the search uses, has nothing to do with where the items ship from

I think seller can setup warehouse anywhere and Etsy did not check it
