For the third time this year, my shop has been put into forced vacation mode. The first time it was down for 3 weeks and I got some standard answer saying that Etsy is a global company and had to do compliance checks. The second time it was down for a week or so and it just got put back up a week ago - I never heard anything from Etsy about that time. Now I realized that my shop has been put into forced vacation mode yet again. This is incredibly frustrating, especially with no communication from Etsy. I'm at a loss. Is this something that is going to keep happening now and is the new norm??!
That must be so frustrating! Clearly the bots are running amok!
Usually a shop is put in vacation mode if verification doesn't go through immediately. Have you been asked to update your details? Verification fails if the info you have in your store does not exactly match the documents you uploaded at the start. You can check the info you already have by going to Shop Manager - Finances - Legal & Tax Information - Fill in or amend details here to match your documents. You also need to add in your tax info (UTR if you are in the UK or SS number for US) in the Additional Tax Info below as Etsy is now compelled to divulge your earnings to the taxman, then click Submit.
You really should have your location listed in your store so that the search engine knows where you are. If you are in the US and someone filters to US only then your shop is excluded! You can add it here: How to Add Your Shop's Location – Etsy
I hope you are back in business soon.
@BarebowArchery @JJewellerySuppliesUK is correct. It's been said that if a potential buyer has to click on a listing to see where it ships from, they immediately click out.
I am among that group of potential buyers.
Hiding a location not only limits search - it also turns off potential buyers.
