Shop NOT Showing UP in SEARCH

Jump to solution

I have been on Etsy for a year and was doing VERY well, but 2 months ago my sales dropped dead. Just today I tried searching for my shop, but it doesn’t show in search.

Would somebody else please try to find me in search too to confirm my suspicions?

Maybe this is my problem for the halt in sales.

I have read I have to contact Etsy support to say the shop is NOT indexed. However, in the help section, I don’t see anywhere to create a ticket or an email to contact them at or anything other than an endless dead end loop asking me my problem. fed up at the moment.

It comes up for me. When I put your shop name into the search bar, right below the line of "Etsy's Picks" it says ...

Did you mean the shop WillToBead?

which is an active link to your shop.

Did you see the advice you got for your shop a few days ago? If you are having a problem with sales I would consider making some of the suggested changes.

i typed in willtobead.

i see 2 of your items on the first page.

1 of them is in the first row.

the vintage 1960s signed bracelet.

the other is in the second row.

it is a vintage anchor brooch.

https://www.etsy.com/search?q=willtobead&ref=search_bar

and it also asks if i mean the shop willtobead at the very top.

which takes me to your shop.

If you type WillToBead in the search bar (with no spaces) it won't bring anything up, but there is usually a link that will pop up below the search bar on the left hand side that says "Do you mean the shop WillToBead?" or something like that, and that link will go to your store. The average shopper doesn't know your shop name so most won't be searching for it in the search bar.

And every shopper sees something different in the search results because they are personalized based on the shopper's previous browsing habits and purchases. What you see is not likely to be what someone else will see.

A big part of where you will rank in search is based on your past search history. If you are selling new products that haven't sold before, they aren't liikely to rank very high in the beginning, even if your SEO is good.

You are searchable.  If you search in your store and come up with nothing, that means you aren't indexed.  I could find your store items in your page.

If my shop is indexed, why am I not able to locate my shop in the search bar? Why will it not appear even when I type the whole shop name in and press search, the shop does NOT appear?

People have been reporting difficulties searching by shop name, it's not just you. You can search the boards here and find numerous threads on that recently.

@WillToBead

When I search your shop name, I see this at the top of the search results page:

"Did you mean the shop WillToBead?"

Search on Etsy returns active listings, not shops. If you want your listings to show up for a search using your shop name, then you need to put your shop name (without spaces) in your listing tags. I've done this for a while now because occasionally I will see my shop name in the stats for search terms.

"but 2 months ago my sales dropped dead." Your previous thread covered why that happened. Here's my post: https://community.etsy.com/t5/Shop-Critiques/What-Is-Wrong-With-My-Shop/m-p/144288509/highlight/true...

You can recover from this, but it will take some effort on your part. It has nothing to do with your shop not being indexed, because it is indexed, as others have confirmed. Even if all of your previous search hits were for your shop name (very unlikely), the current problem would be that you now sell different things, not that people can't find you.

Hi,

I dont know where to post this.
My shop items are search suppressed.

I used to be on page one for "orgonite" on etsy seach. now I am nowhere to be found.

What is the protocol here. I have gone to zero sales from several per day.

@OrgoniteAndy first, search is personalized and contextualized, so everyone sees something different.

Second, searching your shop works, so your listings are indexed. I also see you on page 1 of the orgonite search.

There are lots of results for that search, so you continuing to show up on page 1 is not guaranteed, however.
