Shop Manager Menu - "Messages" Failed to Show a Message had arrived for about 4 Days

The "Message" notification and "Orders" notification under the Shop Manager menu failed to show the number of messages/orders received for about 4 days, and I didn't notice that glitch until I saw an order had come in that wasn't noted on the menu. As a result, I responded to a customer query 3 days after it was sent to me. Lesson learned about not trusting the notification system, and the need to click and check those items every day, even if no numbers appear. I had cleared cookies from my computer around that time. Did I inadvertently foul up this feature? It performed correctly again without my doing anything I was aware of. There went my hopes of reaching star seller status any time soon.

Are you saying that you were relying on email?  I use email only as backup.  I'm in my shop few times each day.

Are you saying that you did not get the dot that alerts to new messages or even the the pop-up that gives you the new message alert?  Did you look at the shop manager?  Even without a dot, the order would register in the dashboard.

Are you using the app or browser.  Make sure the app is updated.  I am not fond of the app myself.

I use Edge.  Others Chrome or Safari.  Are you using a browser not Etsy supported? 

If you were late answering, yes it will impact your star seller.

If you are certain you never received any notification such as the dot or pop-up then I suggest contacting Etsy.

Now I'm confused about why my response to your comments isn't showing up. Basically, I've been using Chrome and shop manager to see if messages come in. It's working correctly again (showing the number of new messages), but didn't for a few days, so I missed a message. I just need to check the mobile app and go into messages, regardless of whether or not there's a notification.

This very similar scenario has happened to me. I went from receiving sound 'ding' on my phone, iPad when I got a message or an order - to nothing.  Then I would received notice of a message though email, but when I checked my account I had no message. Only to find out I had messages, but I had not accepted the message because it came from someone without an Etsy account. So even though it looked like I didn't have any messages they were hidden until I accepted them, and yes I answered ALL messages within the next calendar day, but I guess it was not within 24hrs.  -  yes, I still lost my star seller recognition too - as three of those hidden messages within three weeks lowered my overall score.  Like others I have made it a point since to check in on my iMac every morning to determine if I do or do not have messages and/or orders.  I am sorry this happened to you too. Mine have the wrong numbers almost constantly. I have one that says there is 1 message that has been there for over a year, even when there are no messages. On my other site there sometimes is no number even when there are messages. I check the Messages and Order screens daily, usually several times a day.
