Shipping to UK

I purchased an Etsy label yesterday, shipping from Australia to the UK. Even though on my order, there is a note saying that if I purchase Etsy labels, they provide the number and the price in pounds,( which are required by UK customs),   the VAT number on it was the EU number! When I sent a message  to Etsy Help, the automated reply was info about shipping to the EU- doesn't Etsy know that the UK is no longer a member of the EU? I know the USA is a -'foreign news free zone' but really!

Price in £ is not required by Customs.

The VAT number is not automatically done with etsy labels, for the UK (or Norway, or New Zealand, or Aus for those of us outside it). Only the EU IOSS number. The rest have to be manually written.

The Number should have been GB370600428, I'm assuming it was a number beginning with IM? (Which is EU ioss number).

Usually etsy gets it's right, sometimes they don't.

Was it going to Northern Ireland? that bit of the UK is still sort of within the EU, so can use either the UK or EU VAT collection systems for import VAT when sending from outside the EU & UK.
