Shipping estimates wrong - not following my profiles!

Hi, I am having some major issues with Etsy’s estimated shipping dates being wildly inaccurate and not following my shipping profile I have set, which is leading to confusion and misleading buyers.

I understand buyers will look at the Etsy estimate in the corner when purchasing (rightly so), however, this seems to have glitched. After the option of ‘Other’ was removed some time ago, I selected the longest possible option for my International Orders which is set to (DPD 3-11 working days, and although I post with Royal Mail, we were given no other option). However, I have just had an order come through today, stating that the customer expects to receive in just 4-6 days!? Why is this happening? I now have a customer that believes their order will arrive in time for Christmas, when my settings shouldn’t have allowed this.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes this issue is very misleading to customers, I have reported it,

my most recent one states that will arrive to the US in 2 BUSINESS days, I will mail on the 21st Dec and will arrive on the 23rd!  so yes 2 days to reach the US Craziest one yet.  Not even a date range on this one, just a will arrive by 23rd! I think it is a rogue AI making up these dates.  My profiles are all set accurately

@WishesontheWind    These shipping dates are really wacko. I'm in the U.S. and it shows delivery by Dec. 30.

@WishesontheWind I'm glad it's not just me, that's crazy!

I've just been in touch with Etsy support and they've acknowledged this issue is causing some trouble, and that they are actively working on it. So they must know. In the meantime, buyers are being let down which is not fair as it's not our fault.

Can I ask where you reported it? I can't find anywhere to report bugs. The forums don't seem to be monitored except to "close" old threads when we reply to them.... (eye roll)

@TheCrownArts   to contact Etsy use chat or send an email.  To send an email use Contact us under Help in the shop manager.

This is a peer forum and though monitored, the monitors do not answer questions.

Have you read the article on shipping letters/flats.  It really is different from sending out packages.

And actually since this supposed problem with shipping doesn't happen to all, it is unlikely it is high on the list to fix.

yes @TheInkyDeer you will find once you mark dispatched the dates revert to lead times you have set and accurate shipping times, doesn't help the situation though when the buyers expectations were to receive on time for Christmas!  doing a lot of messaging

Re: Shipping estimates wrong - not following my profiles!

Weirdly, on one of my affected listings/shipping profiles, I've just gone into the shipping profiles again and made a new 'Duplicate' and set it to that instead. Seems to have now updated to the correct delivery estimates (for now at least!), by resetting it somehow.

Still doesn't explain why it didn't work before, when it was the same.

@WishesontheWind  Unfortunately though, Etsy don't seem to be apologising for all the orders that have gone through with the glitched shipping profiles. They're also not able to give a timeframe of when this will be fixed for everyone. Hopefully soon!

- Your shop is lovely by the way : )

yes it is very weird.  some advice on another thread suggested removing US or whatever country it seemed to be affecting then to reapply or like in your case you set a duplicate profile and things work again, be warned for a time!

I done this and then they went back to the bonkers dates again, so unless we keep doing this every other day?  god only knows!

Re: Shipping estimates wrong - not following my profiles!

Upon receipt of an order, I acknowledge the order and indicate the item will be shipped no later than the date indicated in the "Scheduled to ship by" date.  I usually ship before that date.  Once shipped, I send the tracking number and another message indicating the package is now in the hands of the USPS and is scheduled (but not guaranteed) to arrive by whatever date the USPS indicates on the tracking receipt.  In the message I advise that this date may take longer due to weather and holidays.  Thus far, I've never had any complaints about an order being late.  My customers must go by my message date as opposed to Etsy's date.
