I have never had a problem with buyers ordering items with different shipping profiles before, but my shop was in vacation for a week and now its back, and I've had multiple people texting me saying that etsy isn't allowing them to buy all the items in their cart together because of shipping. I have multiple different shipping profiles for different things, and now I'm wondering if I have to charge the same amount to ship everything. Did Etsy just change this? Or am I missing something?
Ask if they have items in their cart from other shops
That was my thought too, but they are only trying to purchase from my shop...I've had four or five people write me with this problem today.
Yes Etsy just changed their new search visibility rule ... all listings must either ship for free or at least for less than $6. If you cannot afford that, then the good news is that using calculated shipping rates exempts you from the new visibility rules. Pictures are also a major factor. No one has to ship for free or ship for less than $6. It may at some point effect visibility in search, but I am not seeing that happening right now. Etsy makes a lot of threats about search visibility if a seller doesn't do this or that, but most of it is like crying wolf when you see a cat. LOL
@GoodGardens No, you do not have to charge the same thing. I have multiple shipping profiles, package settings, etc. It is probably something like @NanaLetha mentioned. Heck, could they maybe even be trying to purchase from shops in different countries?
I get what you are saying as it sometime happens to me. Luckily, the customer generally contacts me and I just do a custom listing for them with the correct postage. I am not sure what makes it happen because I have others who will buy 5 things of all different weights and the sale goes thru just fine. This has been happening to me for years now. Not very often but it does happen. I use calculated shipping and have easily 22 profiles as everything weighs differently.
@TheHomespunLoft-- With Calculated Shipping, you only need 1 profile for all your listings because the calculator uses the product size & weight that you enter into each listing to automatically calculates the shipping fee for you. Why so many (22) CS profiles?
it is easier for me to do it that way. I don't have to think about it.. I choose the profile when I list. All the profiles are named what they are basically and what they weigh.
Read here-- I am not the only seller who does it this way. All my items package up differently. I have a wide variety of items I sell and no two items are packaged the same way.
Like I said-- the rare customer who says they can't buy like 5 diff things at the same time has always just lets me know and I do a custom listing.. and yet others buy the same 5 things and their sale goes thru.. so I have no idea what the difference is.
Check your profiles and make sure nothing has glitched. Things that can't be shipped together would be like you had some set to media mail or they bought some that were set to Priority or Parcel/GA only? I don't use profiles for most things.
