A customer ordered two items from my shop today (in the same order). When I started to enter the information for an Etsy label, the order appeared as two separate orders. The price to ship the box is supposed to be $7.43. I previewed the cost of the label and it was double $14.86. Luckily, I caught the price discrepancy and did not purchase a label. Has anyone had this same problem? I used a calculated shipping profile when I listed the purchased items and wonder if that's creating the problem. I've never run into this issue before.
If Etsy wants to you buy 2 labels, just X out one of them and buy the other.

Yes, that works if the customer has not been charged shipping for each item. But if the customer has been charged for each item, the seller needs to refund the excess shipping. Why has Etsy changed the way calculated shipping is done?
"The price to ship the box is supposed to be $7.43. I previewed the cost of the label and it was double $14.86."
The first price is for shipping 1 item, so Etsy is doubling the fee to ship 2 separate packages. You can easily pack both items together into 1 box and get a break on the shipping price. If you cannot get a price break on Etsy, try shipping them via Pirate Ship. When you ship the package, be sure to put the SAME tracking # into BOTH orders so that Etsy can see you did ship both items.
@TheCatsAttic1: What does the actual order show as how calculated shipping is expecting you to pack? Does it show two boxes? If so, it may be an error in calculating which box the two items will fit into - could be an error on Etsy's side, or possibly your shipping profile does not have a large enough box to fit both items, or the listing may have incorrect dimensions for the individual item.
I just had that happen, since I'm new and don't know how to delete one shipping order, I ended up repacking into 2 separate boxes. I sent 2 purchases to someone else this morning with no problem. In 1 box and 1 label.
YES. YES. YES. For every order that contains more than one item, Etsy is producing a shipping label for each item separately. Often, the customer is being charged for multiple labels. I've refunded customers for the excessive shipping charges, once even giving free shipping to the customer(by accident). This is the first time this has happened in 10 years using calculated shipping. Normally, all goes well. Is anyone at Etsy paying attention? What can a seller do? When can this be corrected?
