These questions apply to domestic US shipping. So, when setting up shipping, it looks like the selections are only USPS options (I select USPS Priority Mail). When an order is placed, I see that it says that the buyer "Requests" USPS Priority. I see that I have a choice of carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.).
My questions:
1. Do buyers actually see the shipping method and really expecting USPS? I did a dummy order and do not see the shipping method but want to be 100% sure.
2. Do any of you ignore the USPS method and actually ship UPS, or other means?
Thank you in advance!
How much do these planters weigh on average? Ground Advantage is cheaper than Priority and you can ship up to 70 pounds by GA.
In answer to #2, it's entirely up to you which method you want to use - I think most, if possible, use USPS because it's "easier" than UPS or Fedex. in most cases.
All shipments have (or should have) a tracking number so that kind of lets the buyer know how something is being shipped.
If you are using Fedex or UPS, you should probably mention that somewhere because some buyers will need to give you a different address (e.g. if they use a PO Box or commonly have FedEx/UPS problems).
I put one of your items in my cart and didn't see the shipping method, only the cost to ship.
Etsy provides labels for UPS and FedEx so you can select either of those methods when you set up a shipping profile. I agree that if you choose one of those shipping carriers, you need to disclose it in your listings so buyers are aware.

Thank you for your detailed reply. When I set up shipping on my personal website, I found that UPS was less expensive that USPS is most cases, though not much different. I was just looking at options. thank you again!

Thank you for replying, and agree with the solution.

Thank you for your feedback and confirmation of what I saw. I appreciate it very much.
I ship larger wooden items more bulky than heavy and UPS is cheaper and far more reliable and less likely to destroy or loose my items than USPS. I can't find a way to select UPS as my carrier under shipping profiles so I've set it as USPS parcel select and just ship everything UPS. I purchase my labels through the UPS website from a business account which I highly recommend as it takes maybe 10 minutes to set up and gives me very good rates compared to other options.
