My star shipping status says that I have one order without a tracking number- it has a tracking number and my customer has received the order- the weird part is that the tracking on Etsy still says “pre-transit”. I dropped it off on time and the customer has the order. I am assuming it says there isn’t a tracking number because it’s not showing up as scanned- but that is a carrier issue and my customer has the order so I don’t think it is being calculated correctly. Thank you!
Did you check what the USPS web site says for the tracking number?
@TaylorsCreativeNook Unfortunately, if USPS does a crappy job and doesn't scan the package in a timely manner, it becomes your problem. It doesn't matter if your buyer has the item and leaves glowing feedback. There is no proof that you shipped on time.
Etsy's Star Seller is very simple in its requirements, and Etsy does not make exceptions or concessions. So yes, according to Etsy, the calculation is correct and they will not change it. So there is no point in contacting Etsy, no one can help you. Unfortunately, you will need to live with it until it drops off.
Sorry, this isn't what you want to hear. I know it sucks to lose Star Seller due to USPS's mistakes.
So I am assuming that you either purchased your label from Etsy or purchased it elsewhere and then came back and entered the tracking number when you shipped the order. If you are dropping your orders off at the carrier, always get a receipt. They are forced to scan the package in order to give you one. That overcomes the failure of a carrier that doesn't scan shipments.
Unfortunately, Etsy can only work from what is being shown by the carrier. So there isn't anything that Etsy can do about it. I fear you will just have to tough this one out. Sorry.
@TaylorsCreativeNook: "... Etsy still says “pre-transit” ..." Not excluding the possibility of a glitch, but an order still in "pre transit" usually means that the tracking information AS ENTERED cannot be validated.
What happens if you click on the tracking number link on the actual order? If it opens the courier's tracking page and shows the scan history then you have proof that the tracking information was entered correctly. In that case you should pursue it - while Etsy will not manually adjust Star Seller stats they can, in some cases, fix the underlying data and then the Star Seller stats will auto update (but not retroactively).
If that does not work, make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. A common issue is a leading or trailing space.
An unsupported shipping company or invalid / unverified tracking number equals shipped without tracking.
Long before Star Seller was even a twinkle in someone's eye, we got into the habit of always checking the previous day's shipments to make sure that they show at least 'in transit' so that we could fix any orders with an issue within the 72 hours we are allocated.
It has been suggested to NOT mention Star Seller when contacting support with Message or tracking issues.
