All messages are counted. Did you mark as spam?
i use an Etsy seller app and has deleted the messages at first, when recently marked it as spam on PC.

Do not consider posting in the Forums as a way to contact Etsy.
Etsy employees CAN NOT adjust your metrics, or retroactively award the "Star".
Better luck next month.
@alpacaplaids: "when recently marked it as spam on PC" How recently? It is probable that you did it too late for it to update in time for the December star calculations. The Star Seller stats will auto update (but not retroactively).
