Dear Etsy Community,
I’m writing this with a heavy heart because I truly don’t know what else to do or where to turn. My shop has been permanently suspended for 8 weeks now. I fully respect Etsy’s mission to maintain a safe and fair marketplace, but I’m holding onto hope for just one more chance to make things right, because this was a genuine mistake.
As a new seller, I failed to manually update the tracking numbers for two Printify T-shirt orders. I genuinely believed they would sync automatically, as they had with my candle orders. I now understand that it was my responsibility. These orders were shipped on time by Printify, but I believe my failure to update the tracking contributed to the suspension.
This was never an attempt to ignore Etsy’s policies. I was doing my best, but I made a mistake due to my inexperience. Since the suspension, I’ve submitted four appeals and sent multiple emails, but I haven’t received a clear explanation or the opportunity to speak with someone directly. Apart from this mistake, I honestly don’t know what other policy I could have violated. Since day one, I’ve done my best to follow Etsy’s rules closely.
To me, SunlitReverieStudio is more than just a shop. It’s my dream, my purpose, and my joy. It gave me something meaningful to wake up for, something I could pour my heart into by designing thoughtful, personalized gifts for others. Losing it has been incredibly painful. It felt like I've lost my life purpose. I felt stuck and hopeless.
I’ve learned a hard lesson, and I’m pleading for just one more chance to prove that I can do better. I’m fully committed to following all of Etsy’s policies, complying with any additional requirements, and showing that I’m a genuine, caring seller who wants nothing more than to contribute positively to this community.
Please help me. I kindly ask that you help forward this to the appropriate team or share any guidance you can. I truly hope this isn’t a closed door.
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for your time and understanding.
With deepest gratitude,
Wendy
All you can do is file an appeal: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/6298920789271-How-to-File-an-Appeal-for-a-Permanently-Suspen...
Promising that you've learned your lesson or that going forward you'll change isn't realistic for an appeal.
You should consider selling on another venue
Why are they so hard on genuine sellers especially newcomers. I have fallen foul once as I am/was relatively new to ETSY. You have my sympathy. Rastroboy
it isn't that you are new...
'general you'....
it is that a lot of shops aren't following the rules...
if that's you, real you, then you have to educate yourself on what is allowed and follow that.
folks who are complaining about Etsy removing listings and similar, and who are not following the rules...well, the issue isn't with Etsy.
JMO. 15year + seller.
Thanks so much, Rastroboy. I truly wish Etsy had a clearer or more forgiving process for honest mistakes. Getting permanently suspended right away has been really shocking and heartbreaking.
OP, I don't know what you were selling. But you are not suspended, you have been removed. Poofed is the common forum terminology.
if you were reselling items that you did not make, or if Etsy felt you were, they will remove you. They remove millions of listings and hundreds of thousands of sellers each & every year for this.
a lot of people have a misconception what Etsy wants. They are very clear about it. The issue is that a lot of people (general comment, not you specifically because, again, I don't know what you were selling)...are trying to be generous with the policy/overlooking it/seeing what others are doing and copying them.
and those 'them' are also wrong.
so no one here can help. You can appeal to Etsy, but otherwise, you will have to find another venue, such as eBay.
I understand Etsy’s rules, and I truly believed I was operating within them. I sold POD candles and T-shirts using my own original designs. I’ve made mistakes and I’ve taken full responsibility in my appeals. I’m just hoping for a chance to explain.
@SunlitReverieStudio: Even with all of the Etsy false positives and other issues, a shop being closed because of "failure to update the tracking" seems a little severe and implies that there were also other reasons for that decision.
I understand. It’s possible I missed a small detail without realizing it. But is a permanent suspension right away really justified? I just wish I had the chance to make things right and learn from this. It's been truly devastating
There are many reasons why a shop could be suspended including (but not limited to):
Did Etsy send you any emails regarding the suspension or had you received any warnings or had listings removed prior to suspension??
Thank you for the insight. I didn’t receive any prior warning or listing removals. Etsy didn’t give specific details beyond saying the suspension was permanent after rejecting my appeal. I believe the issue is related to not updating tracking info for my Printify orders. But beyond that, I truly don’t know what I did wrong. Right now, I feel completely in the dark, wish I had a chance to understand things more clearly and make it right
